Vaping A B1Scu1T's Tale

I would like to take you on a journey back in time if i may. picture the clocks whizzing backwards at high speed, night and day going backwards and that weird effect the TARDIS makes when it materialises if you like, it's not necessary but it adds to the atmosphere.
And there is no need to get your 70's style clothes ether because we are not going back that far, no we are going back only a few months to October 2009 that was the month i started my "Fantastic journey" with e-cigarette's.
I can say with all honesty i never really was all that serious about giving up smoking, i mean why should I? i enjoyed smoking, i knew like most smokers do it was bad for me, in this day and age i don't think there are many people who don't know what smoking can do to you.
hell we have had it shoved down our throat's.
I have seen over the years how slowly but surely smokers became shunned and ostracised.
I remember when you could smoke on Buses double deckers on the top, and single deckers at the back.
they got rid of that slowly at first double deckers only let you smoke at the back of the top deck. then not at all.
cafes stopped people from smoking in them.
Slowly but surely the smoker was loosing his right to smoke.
public opinion was moving against us then the smoking ban everywhere came into effect and we get pushed outside, which is fine in the summer but a bugger in winter.

All that aside i digress I was not all that serious about giving up but i had just got myself an e-cig and i did not want to support two habits, but i did not want to kill myself so i gave the e-cigs a chance, after all it was like giving up smoking without giving up smoking.
It was so easy, only twice in the last few months have i even felt like I wanted a cig and that was only for a short while. easier than falling of a log.
plus the bonus, i can vape on the bus that shunned me all those years ago, the cafe that did the same.
The pubs are a now my friend again thou i don't have much money to spend in them, and its always a good idea to speak with the bar staff or landlord before you do.

So that is the end of my short journey, so glad you could come along and I hope i didn't bore you too much.
and to the world that ostracised me as a smoker, I stick two fingers up at you as i vape on my bus.

Your story is very like mine S3AB1SCU1T. Enjoyed rolling the Drum for 35 years and had no intention of giving up. I have to travel a lot for work, so spend a lot of time in public transport, hotel rooms etc, and was not at all enjoying all that nicorette stuff - gum, inhilators, lozenges, I don't need to go on about how revolting they all are. I was just looking for an acceptable alternative to those.

Came across vaping in March, decided to try it and to my complete and utter amazement found I much prefered it to actual smoking as well. As you say, easier than falling off a log. I still use tobacco very occasionally if I feel like it - I don't see any reason not to - but have dropped the smoking after 35 dedicated years. I've found it absolutely life changing.

I've now encouraged a few people down the path of light, but am also saddened by the resistance of so many to even try anything different. Why is this?
