More market

I haven’t forgotten about my blog but with my wee car still sick it has been hard to get to the market.

The good news is that Mrs C is on the mend. She didn't open the bakery on Wednesday but was back on Friday to provide welcome pies and scones and of course the lovely pancakes. She told me that while she was in hospital a nurse noticed how exhausted she was after 36 hours of a constant nose bleed and gave her a diazepam. "it was great" she said " I slept all night and half the next day". Its good to see her on the mend but she never gets a chance to stop at the bakery.

Mr Painter and Decorator is back from his holidays but he had a sad tale to tell. His beloved 14stone dog died a few days before his holiday and he was bereft. We spent 45 minutes looking at photos and discussing dogs. He did have one e-cig tale from his holiday though in Lanzarote. He visited an English bar with his family and was standing puffing away at the bar when the owner/compere called over the microphone to him shouting "is that a cigarette". Mr Painter and Decorator said he shouted back no. "Good Job" the compere replied "Or you would be dead" ! Mr Painter and Decorator told me that he left the ordered drinks at the bar and gathered his clan (all 8 of them) and went elsewhere.

At the weekend I was glad to see another couple who popped in. Its the wife that uses e-cigs but she is quite poorly and when she doesn't manage in her husband come and gets some new atomisers or liquid. However I had not seen them for quite a few weeks and given her health I was beginning to worry. So she came and had a chat and told me about her latest diagnosis which is Parkinson’s and how she needed more tests before she could start treatment. She is a determined lady and despite her husband’s protestations that he could collect her bits and pieces, she had slowly made her way to my visitor chair. It was nice to see her and that she is still in fighting spirits. I suppose that is the difference between web shops and real places to sell, you get to know and care about your customers in a different way.

On Saturday my son told me about a lady who visited us who was smoking 100 cigarettes per day. She had tried one of the cheap kits and it reduced her smoking a little but she was still unsure if she should take the plunge. She told him that she smoked 4 or 5 packs per day and rollies in between that!. He gave her a disposable cig to have a try but really with that amount of fags it would be hard to make a dent!

On Sunday 100 fag lady returned and had enjoyed the disposable. She could not be persuaded to look at anything other than a basic 510 180mAh battery but here's hoping it does have an impact.

We also had visitors desperately seeking the look alike cig vendors. The couple had purchased 2 kits the day before in another town and they had already broken. Unable to find them locally, they had travelled to Falkirk where they heard they had also been seen. It is really frustrating to have such bad reviews of e-cigs going about due to these fly-by-nights.

Mr Hat also came by. He showed us some books he had got and had a general chit chat. He told us his daughter and family have still not contacted him. That’s over 2 weeks now.

Dr Dyson has tended to be my guinea pig. I was trying some coffee concentrate and let him have a taste of my results. He loved it. It was pretty strong and I had been in the process of reducing it but he insisted it was perfect....until an hour or so later when he returned and said "yeah had enough of that now!". So he was back to his mentholyptus which he still uses with at least double the normal strength concentrate! He also had one of his remote control tanks out to play. Having borrowed some glycerine he had it puffing smoke. “You should make up wee bottles of that stuff and sell it on e-bay" he said "why" I replied. "They sell the tank liquid to make it smoke at £3 for a small bottle". Side-line anybody?

Well sorry I don't have more stories this week. Hopefully my wee car will get fixed soon and I can enjoy the delights of the market properly again.

I have never ever followed a blog before (and don't mention twitter)so don't stop with this one, its good :) Most blogs are boring crap about either so called celebrities or about people who like celebrities. The only other option is boring nonsense about what someone had for tea last Tuesday. Keep it up:) (please).
Really sorry I have been unable to say much recently but due to health issues I have not been at market much . I also lacked internet for over a week (Good old BT!).

One of the most recent issues is that Kinross Market, one of the oldest indoor Markets in Scotland, closed down last week. This has meant a lot of car booters have turned up at Falkirk which made all the regular traders very happy. Dr Dyson loves to get round the "booters" and grab bargains and the bakery unit did a flying trade with their goodies.

Mr Painter and Decorator spent a freindly hour with us while my son concocted a new flavour for him. We called it Mel's Mix (after his company) and he was well chuffed ! He said "I love sitting here watching you sell to customers" and so he did. He is a one man promo with many of his family (his son-in-law turned up for liquid during his visit) and work associates buying from us. Alas he finally decided that it was time to leave but was back a few minutes later; "actually I did come to buy something today...one of those atomcartridge thingies" Atomiser in hand off he went.

Rab from the charity units was not to be seen this weekend. Once a year the local Council give him a shop for a week in Grangemouth. The talk from his neighbouring stall friends was the the Council let him in on Saturday to set up but insisted that he could not sell anything until Monday. They grumbled about this saying "He only has the shop till Friday, seems stupid he can't sell before then especially as it is for charity". Indeed. they speculated on how he could somehow manage to sell without raising any suspicions. "He could just say it is helpers taking stuff away !". I hope Rab does well with his shop for the week and that a few more people help him out. He seems like a one-man band where his charity is concerned. If you are in the Grangemouth area do try and pop in and see what treasures he has. Not sure of the address but his charity is DASH.

Well apologies again for that lack of blogging. Waiting for the painkillers to kick in (Siatica is no fun...I can verify that) and better get up and move around a bit . hopefully I can add a bit more than I have soon.
I missed this until now.

I suffer from sciatica too, it is a pain in the arse (almost literally :))

Hope you are feeling better soon.
