Dripping The Bulli And The Siam Mods Flow Tip

Posted by prof beard , 11 December 2011 · 1,494 views

I've recently acquired a couple of "bits" and though this might make an informative article to talk about them.

I'm a BIG fan of the Bulli A2 - not the tank version, the version that uses 701 carts - in case you don't know the Bulli looks like this (attached to my Precise Plus 18350):

Here's a close-up of the cartridge:

These cartridges (design for the DSE701 e-cigar) are excellent - they hold as much as many tanks and wick superbly. As a consequence I hadn't ever made much effort towards dripping with the Bulli. Until:

The 701 mouth piece to 510/901 drip tip adapter from Vapor Age

This is a properly threaded insert which screw into the Bulli and provide the right size hole to insert a 510/901 drip tip:

It looks a treat on the A2:

and here it is with a Super T Drip-Tip fitted:

Looks great and the Bulli takes dripping very well indeed. However, the Bulli gives a tighter draw with the 701 cartridge than it does with a drip-tip, so it seems an ideal opportunity to try out:

The Flow Tip from Siam Mods

These tips, designed to allow you to control the airflow through the tip, and aimed at repairable atomisers, were recently announced by Graeme at Siam Mods along with some very smart and unusual stainless steel drip tips (I bought the Ripple and Slotted versions and am well pleased with those too).

The Flow tip looks like this:

Here are the ends of it:

As you can see, it's NOT designed for dripping - but the Vapor Age adapter provides a lovely big hole for dripping, and pulling the Flow Tip out to drip is scarcely a faff...

The Flow Tip unscrews in the middle, progressively tightening the draw as you do it:

NOTE - if you unscrew it THAT far there will be no draw at all - the tip will be sealed...

The insides of the Flow Tip look like this:

You can see one of the two small air holes and the two small o-rings - as you unscrew the tip the part with these moves down from the mouth end and tightens the draw...

Here's the Flow tip on the Bulli with the Vapor Age adapter:

The Flow Tips works as advertised - as you unscrew it the draw gets tighter and tight and then stops. For me the Flow Tip and "fully open" (ie screwed right down in the position shown) provides a draw which matches the 701 carts - so I'm well pleased...

I have one of the Vapor age adapters on it's way, how are you finding the Bulli performing as a dripping atty Prof?
Works fine for dripping Mufftrix
I made my own using a 701 cart as I sold my ss adaptor before getting a bulli nice review Prof.
thanks for that prof, i havent tried dripping with my bulli yet and was wondering if you use the same wick configuration as you do when you have a cart in or modify it to touch the base of the bulli?
jud
At the moment I'm using the same configuarion as with the cart - as it didn't need rewicking yet...
ok thanks prof

Hi Prof

If you tire of dripping but still want to use a drip tip as a mouthpiece, it is possible to still use the cart with the drip tip adapter (or at least it was with the older one). If you pull the cart out of it's mouthpiece and squash the O shaped connector into a flattened oval it will clip in secure enough to stay put..
dunno if its changed maz but no squashing needed with Tecc's 701's, they fit nicely, the carts from bulli tho seem a little too loose for confidence.
I know they look different Foggy, mine was an angular bevel where as this is rounded so they may well have been changed in other ways too, that or I just had crap 701 carts :laugh2:
Faffing with steel mesh and dripping on mine as I have an adaptor for it. Chuffing excellent! Nice review Prof, I got my flow tip today so looking forward to testing it out.
