Im just wondering if there is a link between nicotine and how deep of a sleep you fall into?

Since I was about 15-16 I have never remembered any of my dreams, to the extent I can think I dont dream I havent woken up ever thinking I dreamt last night, this is around the time I started smoking and until this last week I have never put 2 and 2 together.

10 days ago I started vaping on zero nicotine and haven't had any nicotine since, but for the last 7 days I have had dreams all night, at least thats how it seems, I can even remember parts of some of the dreams, but I definitely wake up in a morning knowing I have dreamt, this is a feeling I haven't felt for the last 10 years or so, I believe dreaming is a sign of been in nice deep sleep so must be good thing?

I have also felt tired and found it really hard to wake up for the last 10 years, but since starting vaping 3 and a half months ago I have found I have more energy and Im actually starting to wake up before my alarm some mornings which never used to happen

Basically I feel as though I am sleeping between since starting vaping, but sleeping even better since removing the nicotine, are the dreams likely to be linked to me sleeping better or more likely to be liked to my body feeling a bit put out wondering where its nicotine has gone?

Thanks for anyone who has any ideas
Currently Vaping:

Not a lot, vaping has not only got me off the fags but since moving to zero nicotine I no longer feel the need to vape either!

I owe vaping alot without even trying too I have managed to quit smoking and avoided potential future health problems. Im in control of if I inhale anything now not the fags!

Thanks everyone

I have always had dreams and remembered them. Since I have started vaping though and I do vape nic juices, my dreams have become more regular and more vivid.Posted Image

Dreams are a way our brains process the information of the day and such, not sure nicotine has any real influence on this although everybody is different. As you've said you've got to that zero nic plateau, so perhaps it's the reduction in stress from withdrawal that is helping you get the better nights sleep. As for waking up before the alarm and such, you're body has got tuned to a rhythm that it has accepted and got used to. I still dream, the worst are those when you dream about being at work then get up and realize you've got to do it all again but for real this time :)

Dreaming is actually the REM periods of sleep, which are lighter sleep. You don't dream during deep sleep. We typically have about 5 periods of REM sleep in a night, even though you might not remember your dreams.
I'm more inclined that nicotine, as a stimulant, will result in lighter sleep, therefore MORE dreams. To back that theory up, I tended not to smoke in the couple of hrs before bed, nor do I vape.....I just don't fancy either at that point. On the occasion I attempted to quit with patches, the GP gave me 24hr ones, based on the fact that I need a Nic fix and a brew first thing in a morning. They lasted a week! Gave me awful, vivid bad dreams :o

I get a strong link between nic and dreams. After stopping smoking and starting to vape I had a gap when I did not use any nic of any form so as to de tox. I will add at this point that I like nic and its feeling of calm and sometimes the clear rushes it gives. I am not a nic addict and choose to use it when i feel i want it. Yes I am lucky and need only a small amount to feel it working it's way around the pipes. Now I know some of you are thinking why bother to vape when you can give up but I like the vaping ritual and sensation of vaping and thats my choice end of.

What I found was after stopping dead I had many short and vivid nasty dreams. Feelings of entrapment needing to run away and general scary stuff which was not to nice. I would wake up to remember I had had a dodgy nights sleep and feel worn out. after about two weeks the dreams started to become pleasent and I did not want to wake up. For the first time in ages I had dreams I coud remember and did not want to end. I like you Robb had previous to this not had a dream I could remember for years and years.

So free of all the weed I was missing the ritual and smoking habbit. My girlfriend was showing an interest in vaping and so we splashed the cash on a puresmokr v3 from cloud 9. Well it came and it was superb. Working so well it kicked my botty with 18 mg juice and I had to have a lie down. Vaping for me now consists of 10 mg liquid and even with this a heavy session can make me woosy. If I have to much nic I go red and very flush/hot. Having nic without all the other crap has shown me it is stronger than I ever dreamed of no pun intended. Anyhow after starting to vape more regularly I noticed that to much nic changed my dreams and again they became nasty. So now I have a juice level I can cope with "I did not like nic free as the throathit was non existent" and have nice dreams and a nice vape. I had a bad throat/cold just the other day and did not vape for two days to help it pass and did not notice any change in sleep or dreams. I think a lot longer without juice would have prehaps made a difference or prehaps again I have so little nic now it is under the threshold of making a difference at all.

As you can tell from this post it is a bit what if and maybe but I am no doctor or scientist so have tried to put down the changes that happened to me. For myself and seems like you to nic and dreams are somehow linked. Hope you stay well and keep on feeling better and have nice dreams to. It looks to me as if you have been glad to kick your habbit and progress to feeling better in yourself. Well done and happy nic free vaping if you find any way of giving a little throathit when vaping nic free drop me a pm with any info. I tried diablo loco chilli but found it was a little to hard to get the level right sometimes no hit and then just as it kicked in a bit to much of a chilli taste.

It's a well known side effect of nicotine withdrawal that it can create vivid dreaming.

If you google NRT and vivid dream you'll find it listed.

Had a dream about smoking the other night, first time I've thought about cigs since I started vaping. Now I find I have an auto response to roll a cig, I just grab the pv and its gone but odd that 97 days on from stopping that I'm getting the old habit stealing in subconsciously.

I sleep better, wake earlier and am less tired since stopping smoking, I think it might be the monoxide that did caused the tiredness, nic seems to improve reaction and concentration without making me sleepy or keeping me awake. Just my experience mind you.

I'm not sure we're meant to remember our dreams. If we do then something's wrong, such as disturbed or interrupted sleep.
