This thread is for talk about the trip on 2nd June to Downing Street to deliver our petition.

Our reps will be:

Rich White
Dave Atherton
Alice/Concs
Jaki (and her wee girl)
Matthew Convery
Katherine Devlin

No placards, banners, loud hailers or fancy dress will be permitted. (National costume will not be excluded)
Please ensure all petitioners bring photo-identity documentation.

On the relevant day and time, attend the front gates of Downing Street and introduce yourself to the Police Officer on duty at the pedestrian gate. The officer will direct you and your party through security checks prior to delivery of the petition.

We need to sort out the printing of the petition - does anyone attending have easy access to a cheap printer? I'll pay for a cartridge and paper if necessary. It makes most sense for one of the petitioners to get the hard copy than for me to get it printed and post it.

I've got a printer at home which I am happy to use. It prints about a page a minute so if I start now it should be just about done for June 2nd :whoohoo:

The quality isn't fantastic but I've paper and spare ink so it's not a problem to do. I'll get a ring binder and hole punch the pages - could someone do a nice cover for it that I could print out?

I haven't said hello to you yet Jaded ... so, hello, nice to meet you and nice avatar :)
You're welcome to join in, I think Jaki will be best able to arrange meeting spots and fine details now.

Jaki, that's great about printing. I just have to go back to the petition site to check about printer friendly pages and such but will report back soon. I'm also happy to send you some money for paper and ink if you want or could buy you a couple of bottles of liquid as a treat or something? To say thanks from Vapers Network.

I thought Miss Whiplash was your normal dress Conc, they might not let you in if you don't wear your everyday outfit.

I suggest we meet outside the Department of Health, opposite the Cenotaph, as they are easy to find and then we are only a short walk away. I did contact the nearest pub, The Red Lion, but they are are not happy with vaping there as they are a tourist pub and are concerned vaping could cause confusion!

A smoker and vaper friendly venue for a meet up afterwards would be handy ... please everyone ask your friends who know that area and try to find a venue that's ok with vapers and smokers.

The Department of Health seems like a very apposite meeting place. Look out for a tall shifty bloke with a camera who looks a bit like a 1950s Geography Teacher - that'll be me...

The Red Lion does have a Beer Garden out the back if you feel the need of medicinal ale after your encounter with the Con-Dems.

That sounds OK Jaded, providing the weather holds off.

I'm up to my neck in report writing at the moment, but once that's out the way I will ring round to see if I can find anywhere else that will be OK with vaping indoors - it is just after a bank holiday, so the weather is bound to be shite :) Only place I've vaped in London before now is the Coal Hole on the Strand, but there must be somewhere closer than that

I think some of the people coming to support us are smokers so it would be nice to show some solidarity and find somewhere they can smoke if they choose to. That would solve the vaping problem at the same time anyway.

If the weather's fine a Vaping picnic in St James' Park would be more pleasant than any of the tawdry tourist trap hell-holes that call themselves pubs in the Westminster area...

That's great John. I think there's going to be a fair few folks going so should be a nice get together too.
