Hi folks

I need to do a lot of maintenance work on the forums, including a software upgrade, so this is me giving notice that the forum will be down for some time on Thursday 24 November.

I can't unfortunately give a precise timeframe as there are too many variables involved, but expect it to be some hours. Obviously I'll have things back up and running as soon as I possibly can.

Also, at some point in the near future we'll be moving to upgraded hosting which will also involve some downtime as it involves a server move. This will 'possibly' be next weekend, but I want to see how the forum upgrade goes before I give a definite date. I'll make another announcement when I know for sure.

I've hit a slight snag, argh!!!

Basically one of the components I need to update has changed the way you download updates from them, and so I now have to wait until I'm manually changed over to the new system before I can go ahead with the upgrade.

Pretty sure that should happen at some point today, but as I've no idea when exactly, I'm going to postpone the upgrade until tomorrow.

Sorry for messing around, folks! Some things are beyond my control (though if I'd been a tad more organised I'd have checked on this yesterday...).

Hesitate to give a time, because it's not only the forum upgrade that I need to do, I also need to update all the skins, install a new feature or two, test things out, and do some other maintenance work. Doing the database backup before the upgrade takes some time too.

Best guesstimate would be 4 hours, but could be longer (could also be less). :)
