Woah, maybe the Pharma companies decided if you can't beat them, join them?

I doubt we will see much come from this though, it'll be $1,000,000's worth of research trying to find a way to ban them.

Unless, of course, it's gone to a Florida company....

E-cigs are not "quit smoking" devices - they are an alternative way to smoke, but with a much reduced risk profile. Believe this - it's true. E-cig users are NOT quitters.

Or it will cut all your favourite vendors eventually and stuck e-cigs to pharmacies only. Or it will not and we'll get better quality e-juice discovered or.. or... or.. :D

I haven't double checked but somebody was saying this is New Zealand funding. That means it might go to Dr Laugesen which is probably a good thing.

Since one of those links is for a local radio station in Auckland I'd say it very much is New Zealand funding.

Yeah, the problem is that although Dr Laugesen is pro ecig he's also pro medicalisation and anti tobacco. He wants to ban tobacco and provide state funded medical alternatives - ecigs. This probably won't help the recreational market and may, as someone suggested earlier, provide a better case for compulsory medical licensing.

Sorry to dig up an old thread but I thought it might be of interest to some folks that one of the collaborators in this ecig study is Queen Mary University London. They are involved with the UK Centre for Tobacco Control Studies which basically promotes bans, stigma of smokers and medical products.
