new to vaping, but swiftly developed a problem with the juices. I started to get serious pain in my lungs! difficulty breathing, and incredibly painful / impossible to 'catch' a deep breath. After doing some research it turns out that PG can lead to excessive build up of lactic acid. went and bought some VG (from boots) and some de-ionised water (from halfords) and have started diluting all of my PG juices (i bought a fair amount before i realised the problem). Lung is slowly returning to normal but i am now worrying about the side effects i hear concerning VG.

Just gonna buy flavorings from now on and mix my own juices!

Thought i would share the info for anyone else that may be suffering - and also for anyone who is really interested you might wanna check out the following articles.

on a separate but related note it seems that PG actually helps detox the lungs!

and the real killer (that suggests that my reaction was a very rare one)

hope that is of interest / use to someone

I've noticed something like lactic acid while vaping, I didn't know what the cause was - I'll bare all this in mind cheers. Do get hiccups when vaping?

Brilliant, thanks for sharing this. Isn't the community great!? I think I may have bouts of what you're talking about. Feels like pressure under the ribcage and against my heart. Painful! Can't take deep breaths. Goes after a while. I've only ever had it twice but I half knew it was something like that and this tops off my suspicions.

Hope things turn around for you now.

Thanks again,

Snow

PG does metabolise to lactic acid amongst other things, but I'm not sure that would be responsible for chest pain. It could be related, but it sounds like pleurisy and I think you should check it out with a doctor.

Ouch. That smarts. Are you applying that both me and b1zki7?

It's a sharp pain which you get when breathing so both sound like it, but I'm not a doctor! I've had it in the past which was to do with a chest infection, but it definitely should be investigated if it's persistent. http://www.patient.c...th/Pleurisy.htm

Thanks nyancat. : ) I guess any chest pain should be checked out really. Going by that last link I'm pretty sure I don't have pleurisy but that's not to say it couldn't be something else unrelated to the PG. I need a check up so will get it checked out.

Yer, what I get is more like mild (and very occasionally moderate) heartburn rather than any sort chest/breathing pain. It's never severe and I'd rather have heartburn everyday than smoke lol.
