In the two years or so I've been vaping I've had a few colds and assorted viruses. My OH was a secondary school teacher for the first year so brought home quite a selection of nasty bugs at the beginning of every term. Thing is, since I've been vaping I've got away scot free with any related chest symptoms. All the other cold symptoms are present it just doesn't ever go to my lungs.

Can't say that I get over them any quicker, they still have to run their course but I'm well chuffed I'm not coughing my guts up every morning :)

And I still get to vape away quite happily without it making my throat any worse. It's a stab in the dark but I guess that could be because I vape VG which is itself taken for sore throats.

I'm interested to hear everyone elses experiences with vaping whilst ill and whether they find PG or VG kinder to their throats.

Smoking whilst ill was so rubbish I almost feel a bit smug sat here in a cloud of RY4 :)

Yep +1 to that.

I've just had a stinker of a cold and was able to vape throughout without any adverse effects. Try doing that with a fag ...

In fact, it might have helped as it's a steam inhalation when all's said and done - wow just think of that - vaping might actually be something that can do you good ...

Vaping right now as I type - nice herbal zero nic mix cut with a little vg / deionised water base and no irritation or cough.

Cheers - Mike.

I had my first cold as a vaper about a month ago and it was a real stinker!

I just fired up some menthol tobacco vape and carried on. Afterwards, I was
treated to no secondary lung problems for the first time ever. I count that as
another of the bonuses of starting vaping. :)

One of my problems when i had the cold was a sore throat and bad ears so wasnt feeling my best. I was using a 1.5ohm cartomiser on a megalodon at 3.7 volts and it was hitting too hard and i couldnt vape. I then used my old sky cig cig-a-like with a menthol cart and it was much better. Was easier to vape than it would be if i smoked and much easier on the throat than the don was but i still couldnt vape too much but it was enough to have a little nicotine :)

one word.... MENTHOL.

don't usually vape it, and never would have smoked it, but getting a cold turned me on to menthol.

menthol blend from liberty flights, yummy.....

i felt like i was cheating the universe, sitting vaping menthol on the sofa with a nice hot drink...

Totally agree Stealthvape - every cold I ever had when smoking ended in chest infection, antibiotic and. because I'm asthmatic, steroids and hospital admissions. None of the above in the two years vaping.

Must add, VG always

My first illness as a vaper was flu and I found the taste of my tobacco juices vile so I broke out the Mentholyptus and pretty much vaped all the way through, albeit less frequently (I used standard atties at 3.7 volts at the time).

I'm just now getting over a stonking cold but have pretty much continued as normal, with occasional use of menthol if my throat was very sore. I did find that I needed to lower the voltage a tad, 'though (standard atties at 4 volts rather than 4.4 or so). Despite drinking a huge amount I've been really dehydrated which made the never-ending coughing even worse. I'm usually a PG user but vaping a juice with a small percentage of VG helped a lot I found. I've had no signs of a chest infection 'though which was pretty much par for the course when I was a smoker.

What I want to know is whether vaping means that all my illnesses are going to happen only at Christmas every flippin' year...grrr... :hissyfit: .

VG ftw

It looks like this is turning into a full blown man cold but I'd still put a bet on it not going down to my chest

Ready to eat my hat tomorrow though :)

Nose exhaling mentholyptus does a great job of keeping the tubes clear in my experience.

Just made a mix of 50/50 RY4 and vanilla, both neat VG so added 6.66% distilled water and a healthy pinch of menthol crystals. Definitely finding it easier on the throat with the menthol but don't tell the wife as I'm really milking this one :-D

I only just started vaping but I've got a cold right now and its been a lot more pleasant than the last time I had a cold. If I didn't smoke I would start coughing loads and get all the symptoms of a cold even when I was fine and it just doubled up when I actually did have a cold. Smoking really hurt my throat but only while I was actually doing it so it was a worthwhile trade off. However I've been able to vape menthol just fine through the cold and avoid the nicotine withdrawal as well. Win-win I figure.

I always smoked menthol cigs anyway so can't say I've noticed any difference since moving to the vapour, but I did have an idea the other day involving sticking a drip tip up my nose with stronger menthol in it to clear out the old sinuses. It seems like that should work quite well on a cooler atty and would save money on buying those sticks, inhalers, decongestants, and other such products. Seems like common sense really, since we already have the necessary equipment on hand.

Hmmmm, as a slave to sinus problems I'm now seriously thinking about putting a post in the Classifieds wanting to buy a double-barrelled Silver Bullet. :D

I've had just one cold since vaping. Vaped menthol and it was gone in 2 days. Before, it would have lingered a good week and pretty much a dead cert it would have ended up as a chest infection for a couple more weeks. Not had a single episode of tonsillitis since vaping either and used to get that every couple of months.
I wonder is the VG acts like that first defence stuff? Coats your membranes and stops the bugs getting a hold? Never shifted a cold so quick and been exposed to plenty since without coming down with it :)
