Hey, check this out mates!

Smoking has always been banned in airplanes since the early 80’s. It has always been a part of travelling and something that smokers just had to deal with. But there seemed to be a way around them when electronic cigarettes were invented. But even that will be a thing of the past soon, with the recent reports that US officials are now going to outlaw the use of all cigarettes, electronic or not, in their local flights.

Thanks for the post Xiecig :good:

This Guy comes across as a tad ill-informed - though it's not dated - he appears to not be a Vaper and probably not a smoker either:

Quote

Electronic smoking devices are more helpful in that it can be used to simulate the physical action of smoking. The nicotine in electronic devices is in small doses and can barely help with the chemical dependency of a smoker but the action of placing a cigarette on your lips and puffing actually helps a smoker more with the psychological aspect of smoke addiction.

Despite the recent Italian study of smokers who did't want to 'quit' - Bless him!

and this bit i seem to recall as ASH style propoganda:

However, there has been some research suggesting that the use of such devices can be still be dangerous for your health because of the presence of carcinogens in electronic cigarettes.

And poorly edited:

no smoke it produced

Don't know about the US Airlines, however, I work for a British Airline (the one with the red uniforms lol), and unfortunately they have banned electronic ciggies on our flights. The reason being is that other passengers may mistake you smoking a real ciggie !! if that could really happen !!

Just as an aside, I traveled back to Crete from UK by Easyjet and Olympic airlines yesterday and they both announced that Ecigs were banned on their flights. I also noticed that there was a warning in their in flight mags as well.

Not looking good. :frown2:

They'll probably have a hidden camera in there somewhere, and you'll be ejected out into the fresh air still clinging to the pan. :D

Only Russian airlines as they're used to the cold better. Oh and a few Rhyan Air if you bought their double economy class tickets.

Typical petty spite - we CAN ban it, so we WILL

However, it's one thing saying they're not allowed, quite another preventing their use - after all, ecigs don't set off the alarms in the loo, as I've proved on many flights!!!!!

Cheers,
Lynn

When I left the US last year, I happened upon a woman in Security with her E-Cig and damned myself for not packing mine in carry on, I was also still smoking at the time. Anyways, her and I got to talking along with the TSA security guard who was unsure, he checked the rule book (this was april2011) and he told us they were allowed on the flight because they did not produce an open flame. (You can also take one lighter through security with you) She showed him out it worked, we told him about juice ect. She inhaled, exhaled, he whiffed the air, said Have a Safe Flight.

Now you might not get this through a LOT of the checkpoints in US airports, the airport I was in was a 3 terminal one, with only about 100 people leaving on flights that morning, so security was less than a few minutes and we had time to waste talking to the guy.

To be on the safe side, it is always best to ask the flight attendants at the desk when you check in, then if TSA gets you, ask them (but chances are they wont stop you) and if you are still unsure, stop a flight attendant on flight.

Poor article but true as it stands.
The flight authority is trying to ban them. If they do it will be challenged as in the US no agency can pass a law only a rule based on law. Their is no law that prohibits ecig so they don't actually have a right to ban them. Individual airlines can however require you to not use them (its their plane) and you must obey otherwise you are breaking a law.
I think the Flight authority are going down the confusion rule and feel that a blanket ban is easier to enforce than a lot of individual omissions and inclusions. Yes it a herding the sheep thing.

At the end of the day they can ban anything they want on planes - whether it's legal to use or not.
A straight PG mix on a SDK and stealth away.

Funny though, they still wheel out the drinks trolley and duty free cabinet.

Sure you cant smoke or vape but here are some free / heavily discounted mind altering substances.

Total nonsense in this day and age.
Does it cause as much harm as sunlight ?

Not a health and safety issue a crowd control one.

By that logic, adults should be banned from giving children water in public - it may be confused with gin or vodka.

The only people we've got to blame for this, are those few inconsiderate vapers who felt the need to 'blatantly' vape, and not either stealth or go to the toilet.

I can see why a non-smoker would kick off if they saw someone doing something that appeared to be smoking, and why the airlines would just have an outright ban to avoid any passanger unrest.
