Coming back to this one as I recently commented (rather smugly - my bad) on vaping following tooth extractions, I had 6 teeth out last year and vaped as soon as I left the dentists without any after effects HOWEVER I had a molar extracted last week and now have a very nasty infection in my jaw.
The dentist can't be 100% sure but it looks like I got dry socket from pulling on my pv - I could just have been unlucky as it was a very nasty extraction that took over 40 minutes but then again I thought I would mention it because it's something that comes up quite a lot.
If you can, try to leave vaping for 24-48 hours AT LEAST following an extraction. It really isn't worth the risk.

I know what your going through and it is not nice. I had a wizdom tooth extracted and the "plug" they put in the hole cane out due to smoking. Constant pain. All they could do with me was replug it and i did not smoke for three days. I think as long as you keep your tongue over the hole to prevent the plug coming out it should be ok for an emergency vape. But you will still be taking the chance of having constant pain for days, not worth it in my opinion.
Stopped Smoking 1st October 2011 Styl3r dual 18650 vv ,Touchwood 18650, Argento 18650 and Mini Argento.

Dry socket is bad, been there and feel your pain
If dentist didn't do it, soak a small piece of cotton wool with euginol or oil of cloves and carefully pack the hole with it. Far better that any painkiller. Iglu ulcer gel works well too

Brilliant thanks for that, I've had to go to my dentist every day since Tuesday to have my dressing changed but I took it out myself today (it was loose!) and discovered it's really little more than cotton wool soaked in oil of cloves which I've got by the bucket full lol I've also got Iglu from when I had my multiple extractions last year.
Thank you

No worries. I work in healthcare and therefore, by default, have to be clinically dead before I will seek the help of another healthcare professional..... I know lots of self-cures lol!

Old fashioned (and of course pretty vile tasting) tip my dentist gave me when i had 5 teeth out. TCP as a mouthwash.
Wont stop you pulling the clots out yer mouth but will ward off infections post extraction.

Does it cause as much harm as sunlight ?

Guess i was lucky last year had 3 teeth pulled out 1 when i was heavily smoking and dentist said not to but soon as i got in the car out of her office i lit up.
The other 2 that were pulled i got in car and started vaping , felt sorry for the lady dentist as she struggled when 1 tooth broke in 4 pieces.

either way I'm never going to take the risk again, far too great
