How do you tell the difference between all the various types of battery. ie how do you know if a battery is protected or not ?
Also, how the heck do you know which type of battery goes in which mod - ie one with or without nipple ?
A protected battery will say "protected" on it, and have a PCB in it (which is like a strip down the side of the battery that you can just feel under the shrink wrap).

Don't worry about the nipple (or lack of) too much...
Generally Li-ions have a nipple, and IMR high drain batts don't.

As long as the battery is the correct size for the mod, you can generally use either, with or without nipple (different advantages to both)...

Why do people keep running over a piece of cotton string a dozen times with a vacuum cleaner, then reach down, pick it up, examine it, then put it down to give the vacuum one more chance?

Because they don't have to walk 3 miles to the water hole, with heavy jugs on their shoulders, and back again? :bee:

Why don't they just move closer to the watering hole?!

Pixie Juice Menu: Signature juice - Mint Choc Chip Ice Cream. Others: Blackcurrant Ice. Double Mint, Vanilla Ice Cream. Still tweaking more.
Berry Chewits Berry Chewits is no more thanks to the concentrate recipe being changed by the manufacturers who also didn't indicate this on their website. Thanks for that, not!

My favorite pre-mixed juices: Grizwalds Strawberry Ice Cream. Copper Creek Apricot Danish. Kentucky Vanilla Blend. Kentucky No 7

In a mod with no protection, which is better to use, a protected battery or an aw imr?

if no protection circuit on the mod, i'd say whatever you like.

IMR (aw or otherwise) seem to give a decent powerful vape, then drop off quickly at the end. I prefer IMR's for low resistance and variable voltage applications, due to the higher drain.

protected li-ions will have a better run time, but with a slow gradual drop off in vapour production/hit. also a bit bigger in length. they're absolutely fine for standard res stuff and most uses to be honest.

i use both, but recommend testing fairly regularly with a multimeter...

they're usually fine.....

In a mechanic mod (The Don - mini mode for example) does it matter if i put the battery (AW IMR) with the + pole upside down?
Are there any desavantages?

I've tried this and i feel that the mod hits harder. Is it safe to use it like this?

What has the biggest effect on throat hit, is it the nicotine content or the device your using or a mixture of the 2 ?

I ask as at present I'm using the SD EGO and have tried cartos, an atty and now have the vision ego but not really getting the hit I want, I've been using up to 26mg ejuices but was peviously quite a heavy rollie smoker.

Hi mrzv, in an all mech mod it should be fine to put the battery in either way, the electrons actually flow the opposite way to what's indicated on a circuit diagram.

Rockhopper, you'll find that nicotine content has a big impact on throat hit, but the device does too.

For example, I get I similar throat hit with 12mg juice in the RDA to what I do with 18mg in a low resistance 306.

I would need about 24mg to get that from a carto...

I came here to maybe help but your answer to Rockhopper brought up an issue thats been bugging me a while. Does voltage actually make any difference at all or is the wattage/ampere (I know they're different technically but close enough) the only thing that matters?

I also appreciate that different heads are constructed differently.but if we took a 2.0ohm Boge running at 2 amps vs a 3.0 ohm Boge running at 2 amps, what differences would you expect to see?

no difference, 2 amps is 2 amps, but that's not what it's 'running at' as such, that'll be the wattage....

so a boge at 8 watts is a boge at 8 watts :)

The SD Ego is a tidy unit and quite pokey for a 3.7 Ego style . Like you I was a heavy smoker . I found I didnt feel throathit at all for months . Theres allsorts of things you can try ,PG only juices
, dripping on an atty , LR , high nic (36 mg )etc . I use Dekang BM2 dripped on a dual coil atty for a nice throathit .
In the long run a bigger battery device might be something to try but you get the best of both worlds with a mega sized Ego battery , power and portability .

Thanks for the info, guess there's a lot of trial and error trying different combinations before you find what hits the spot..unfortunately it can gets costly along the way :bulgy-eyes:

Your not wrong there, but when you find what works for you, all you need to do is to make sure you have a plentiful supply .. spares, spares and more spares.
Tatty bye all, it was nice while it lasted.

I have a newbie question.. :)

I've been using an Innokin Lea , which is a tank and atty combination on a 510 threaded 650mah battery. I really like the tank and atty combination and the whole assembly screws beautifully down into my new Lavatube.

But here's my problem.. I can't get a draw from it. Now, investigating, I found that the LEA battery has two slots cut down the sides of the thread inside the battery connector, to let air flow down and into the small air holes on the bottom of the atty. Of course, on an LT battery, theres no slots. No airflow, no draw!

So.. my question.. does a connector adapter exist that would replicate the air flow slots of the LEA battery and let me use my atty on the LT?

Yeah cost is always an issue for a lot of us , I try and partition my old baccy money for ecig stuff . It soon adds up to a lot of gear. Liberty Flights sell wee bottles of 36 PG juice(and cheap cartos, discount codes and free shipping !!) , Vapourworld has a 36 BM2 'Flavour of the Week at the mo for a few quid(and cheap attys ) .
I tihnk on your SD ego , using stuff less than 2 ohms isnt advised tho.
