Just received a fake email from Paypal, saying my account has been put on hold, check real PayPal all ok, clicked link then entered false details for login, then was asked to enter card details.

Watch out :D

I buy from anyone who sells good products at the right price, even quit kit vendors.

You're better off never clicking on them, just mouseover the link and you'll see it has no HTTPS and it's a mickey mouse type URL.

Mouse-Over/Open New Tab/Window or Click Me Twice for Larger!

Yes, except Mic's keys a bit of a twat at times. (He's a third cousin, so not really related) :)

Was it in your inbox or your junkbox Digi?

I usually delete them without looking at them but have sent a few to Spoof@paypal and they are always fakes...

Usually they say 'Dear member' and your username is not actually mentioned.

If it is they are getting damned good.....

Not the best test, as SSL certificates are very easy to pick up with only domain validation. I could very easily register paypaluk.com (well, I'm guessing that's registered but you get the point) and then get myself an SSL certificate for it in less than an hour making the link "https://www.paypaluk.com").

You can usually tell by the domain name (e.g. if it isn't something.paypal.com / .co.uk) or if you do click through then most sites like paypal or internet banks these days have EV certificates, which makes the address bar green and displays the registered name of the company next to it which has been checked and confirmed:
