Will it be the next World Cup before we get the kick?
Vaping Evolution: DS901, I-Inhale, GG Grant, GGTS, GG autofeed v. 1, Ego, Juice Box, Garry Dibbley passthrough (the cheapest and I use this the most, although as yet to rig this up on a 12v bike battery :) Reo, 2 Arry tanks, Cube SS + Clockworks RTA, Lavatube, SDK, PeaceofCake Hybrid mod.

Ok forgive me for being a totally electronic n00b here but how would you limit such a board to x volts ie the board goes upto 30-35v how would you stop it accidentally whacking straight upto the max voltage when put in your pocket or something - would this be something to change the pot with a different max xvolts pot that simply won't allow the board to go higher or am i barking up the next door neighbours tree ..
Many thanks

A step down module will only dial up as high as the batt output (ultimately 8.4v) if you're concerned but you could always have the pot as it is ie screwdriver adjustable or shift it to the top of the device if you want a knob on it.

Thanks Snaggle i meant for the step up boost type modules - caps to limit output different chip or limited pot

Yes I know, but my suggestion then would be to use a step down as an alternative. Output will automatically be limited (2 x in series = 8.4v) & they do actually function better in an e-cig, very little or no activation voltage drop. I've ordered a few of the above (which seem a bit cheap to be true) & I'll let you know how they perform when they get here.

They're the same Garry used in his "Tin your tip" VV tutorial over on VTTV so I've got faith. The price does throw you a bit although I think Garry mentioned he paid a bit more (£6?). I've noticed a lot of cost variation with these.
Ordered over a week ago so should hopefully be here soon & I'll set it up on my test board first & do some load tests etc with different batts & let you know how I get on.

Well looking back i can see people having a good laugh at me wanting to run a 1.5ohm at 6v , lol ,
those were the days of not knowing vv devices.

Hi all
What do you think of this as a module for a vv device? other than accessories like switch and led is there anything else i should use with this or can i just bung it in and vape away.

Using this module with 1 battery it will drain it really fast as the excess voltage will be burnt off with heat and you might have to add a heat-sink. Not very efficient
You could use a ptn04050c you wouldn't get 6v with 1 battery though but they are very effecient. I used to use in a single battery mod (mVm) with good results.
cheers

Caps just keep it stable you would add resistors and a resistive potentiometer

I am wondering which school you all went to as I don't understand how you know about all this electronic stuff, or even where you learn.

Hi there styl3r , thanks for the heads up , i posted this question over a month ago and have moved on a bit since then. hopefully in the near future i will be asking you to do the electrics for me when i have finished the box i have been working on, onto the fourth prototype at the moment , every time i finish one i see an easier way to make it ..lol.. Takes me 15 minutes to take a piece of wood and create a vv box that will hopefully blow your mind in its simplicity and "moddibility"...lol.

Got these through finally. Hooked up 2 x 18350s & carried out some voltage under load tests with a 3ohm & got:- 4 volts dropped 0.1, 5 volts dropped 0.2, 6 volts dropped 0.4 so not too bad I'd say.
