I've vaped in pubs, towns shopping centre's and in a local library.
I have only been challenged 4 times so far, 3 of the challengers were fine once I explained what vaping was and took my device apart to show them it was a battery and cartridge and that I wasn't actually burning any tobacco.
The 4th challenge was from a council official within my local library who continued to kick up a fuss until the police arrived, even the police officer tried to explain to the librarian that vaping was not illegal, but librarian was not having any of it, so being the good sort of chap that I am, I put the device away and left the building however the county council did receive a letter from me regarding the incident where I named the librarian and the police officers involved.
So you shouldn't be afraid of vaping anywhere, it is only because it is a fairly new concept that it makes you feel awkward and there has to be pioneers in everything before the masses jump on the bandwagon and vaping becomes a way of life for all smokers.

No one even heard the complainants of smoking, and even the very rare asthma sufferers were on 20 to 40 a day, many of them.
Then as the years progressed, asthma and allergy sufferers came out of the woodwork like a pestilent swarm of busy little ants, until as it is today, when almost everyone is allergic to everything, including oxygen, radioactivity from their toothpaste, and alien worms springing out of their bananas!
Now I'm just allergic to chimps, (Homo-saphead type) and try not to breath in, when near any, in case I catch some brain damaging disease they carry, or I become infected with mobile-phone-stuck-in-my-lugghole-making-me-iTalk-irritating-shyte - syndrome.

Everything has to be politically correct all of the time as well. A few months ago as I was driving one night I was listening to something on radio 4, they were on about putting on a play in London where it was expected that some of the actors are supposed to smoke because it was a classic production.
They decided that the safest way to reproduce the effect was to use e-cigs. the actors were not allowed to use them in rehearsal, and when the time came for the show they had to put up warning signs that electronic cigarettes would be used during the play, and full information about the effect they could have and what guidelines they were following etc etc.
Notices were put up on the entrances on opening night as well so that everone knew all about it.
As the play got underway everything was fine until one of the actors 'sparked up'!
I cant remenmber the numbers but around half a dozen people walked out in disgust to see such a thing in a theatre and 2 people immediately had asthma attacks!
The theatre group had to offer councilling for anyone requiring it after the show.
So you see,, it's one hell of a problem for normal everyday smokers to even think about just living their lives normally again with and e-cig, when it seems every other person who knows nothing about e-cigs, wants to dobb you in for fear of them losing their jobs for not reporting you, or an 'ex-smoker' (who REALLY wants a fag) doesn't see why you should be normal and they cant.

as are we all to a greater or lesser extent. I've given this topic five stars - it should run and run. We need to get the Health Nazis off our backs and the gospel I've been preaching is that we should all vape proudly and openly and to hell with the consequences.
No-one would think of preventing my using an asthma inhaler anywhere, that's full of steroids, could men grow breasts in my company????
You live long enough, you see just about every insanity the health nuts can inflict on you but thank God there are still some among us (afternoon Boad) who
tell it like it is. Go back half my lifetime and hospitals were blue with tobacco smoke - patients, visitors, doctors (nurses had to nip off to the sluice for a drag but that was a discipline thing) there was no MRSA C Diff - the bugs couldn't have survived. A friend then aged 11 or so was advised to take up swimming and smoking to help her asthma - by her doctor!
Of course I'm not advocating a return to that - it's been proved to most people's satisfaction that today's cigarettes kill, so why do they go on smoking? Because they can't stop; and they can't stop because they haven't found a viable alternative. And they won't find it because it isn't in the interest of Governments or Drug Companies that they should.
So it's down to us folks to spread the gospel - Get Your Lovely Nicotine 'ere.

I've been going Barefoot, part-time, for the best part if 20 years, and so have been dealing with the same kind of 'short-sightedness' on a regular basis. There is only one place in Hull i'm banned from and fair-play - i could just contact their head office and get a letter - but i wouldn't use Aldi that to be bothered!
I have encountered the same kind of 'small mindedness' with ecigs - tho the confidence going BF has given me (not that i needed much
I do only Vape where i would have smoked - and at footie grounds - and have memorised the 'Law' so that i can recite it verbatim - just in case! think using devices where the juice is visible also helps as it is so much easier to show and explain how they work.
Oh and of course, being Barefoot and Vaping probably creates a 'Somebody Else's Problem' Field around me too!

I do vape at work - it puzzles the doctors I work with - they can't quite work out why am appear to smoking the handle of a laryngoscope but am careful not to flaunt it well, because, you know, rules is rules and my desk is under a smoke detector...
I vape at home - like "Puff the Magic Dragon" and no one complains - they're amazed that I'm not smoking!
I vape in the car - with and without passengers and again - no one complains.
Going out tonight and will vape outside with the smokers! I can then preach the gospel of St Vaper to the masses!
However, I'm just waiting for the time when a passing bobby notices me puffing on something that looks like something from the Ann Summers "special" section, and tries to confiscate if for analysis. I'm not too sure how i'll be able to explain the small bottles of juice in a case, together with drip tips and cartomisers - and the thought of losing my Don - even temporarily - doesn't bear thinking about!

I myself vape outside coffee shops, my partner still smokes so I am out there anyway, I also feel people watching me sometimes and get the idea, they think I am showing off. It is hard to vape naturally when you know people are watching you, thinking who does he think he is, or what the hell is he doing. lol at the Anne Summers.
Been asked a couple of times and only met two fellow vapers out and about, once at an auction room and again at a car booty.
Yes I agree good thread.
Every time you mention going bear foot Digi, you remind me of my crush on Zola Budd. Man I liked her.

Fathom, I always have the window down a smidge whilst vaping as well, the trouble is that I'm a bit heavy on the vape and the winscreen gets a coating of PG now.
A truckin mate of mine was sitting in a layby. He still has the habit of holding his e-cig out of the window and 'taps' it to 'get the ash off'' (creature of habits)
He got a call from the office on his radio and without thinking flicked his cig away straight into a huge puddle in the layby!!!

I now happily vape indoors at home and not in the cold outside, I vape in my car when others are in it (namely my two daughters who are staunch non smokers), I vape in the pub (when I'm allowed to go there) and I vape when I'm in town.
As for people staring at me while I'm enjoying my vape, I don't really give a rats bottom what they think and they can stare all they like, while they're staring at me, they're leaving some other poor bugger alone lol, if anyone asks what I'm doing, then I'll happily tell them and give out a couple of business cards that vendors have sent me.
There's too much PC now-a-days for every normal persons liking, 'you can't do this, you can't do that' seems to be the daily phrase now, some of it's 'common sense' as we all know, but most is just drivel thought up by 'overpaid quango's' with nothing better to do.
We've all been conditioned over the years through school, television and the national media to 'conform' to what 'they' want us to do, and over those years, we've all quietly accepted this, usually without question, so as not to be seen as a weirdo or something strange.
I've only been vaping fully for the past four days (no fags since 23:59 on the 25th Jan), and I view 'vaping' as a viable alternative to smoking, it gives me my much needed 'nicotine hit', I feel much calmer than I ever did when I smoked rollups, I don't smell like a damp ashtray anymore, my pockets are a lot lighter since buying new kit lol, and I feel better overall.
Reading my post back does give the impression that I'm a 'bolshy bastid' with a 'sod 'em all' attitude, but I'm quite the reverse, though I'm not one of those 'timid people who likes being pushed around' either, but I will vape where I am allowed to by law, and if/until that law changes, I will continue to do so.
