This is a message for mods, admin, etc....

Hi all,

Could we please start getting some useful sticky posts in each forum? the same questions come up time and time again, and with an exponential growth in users, the forum will get so cluttered it's unreal.

things like 'subjectivity in taste' 'ego won't fire - center pin pushed down' 'buy an ego', the simple stuff we go over again and again. different methods... cartos, tanks, carto tanks, rebuiladables.... a lot of people aren't that clued up on the different systems out there at first... i'm sure it must have been suggested before...

maybe a rebuiladable atomiser sub forum?

i, and i'm sure others, would be happy to recommend suitable posts for stickydom...

thanks all

Good idea, some are outdated and could do with the daily forum users to keep on top of things; for example, I offered to create an OPEN google spreadsheet to list all vendors and discount codes - but if it's not going to be seen, what's the point?!
There are some quality threads that really need to be stickied, as they're helpful and informative yet they get buried after a few days :)

Well I agree wholeheartedly - its been bugging me for ages! So long as we don't use them to make newbies feel unwelcome by merely referring them to stickies all the time (I've seen that on other forums and its not a good thing imho).
So shall we start with the new user questions area do you think?

Yes, I think the FAQ approach works pretty well. They can get really enormous so maybe a summary FAQ with links to the details?

What about a Blog dedicated to beginners?

If it could be set up so that various people were able to submit articles that would mean no one person would have the large task of trying to address all the different areas. There are quite a few blog entries already that could be brought under the umbrella of a blog for beginners.

It would also mean the new user questions area would not be clogged up with a lot of stickies

What about cleaning up some of the messy posts that are already here, "UK Vendors", and "Discount codes" for starters

One has 7 pages, the other has 10
can you imagine being a noob and trawling through all that, only to find the 'up to date' and 'relevant' info is on the last page (or there abouts)

These are all excellent ideas but someone will have to volunteer to make the threads - the mods are too busy moderating to guarantee keeping such things up to date. We would be happy to do things like lock and unlock threads and stickie things of course.

Quite simple, you take Mikro and Boadys efforts and lock them so there's not another 7 pages of gash added, then any Vendor has to PM you with a request to be added to the list, no ?

as a newbie i found the hardest thing to learn to start with was

'ok cigalikes are great and i want to move on -have cash but no idea what to buy - help'.... would make a great sticky as it's probably the main reason noobs like me start googling and find this forum.

I think a better answer would be to have a couple of people specifically to look after info and FAQs etc in a separate subforum. I discuss it with the team....

I nominate Boad for the following reasons:

(1) She's a computer whizz-kid.

(2) She knows masses about everything technical.

(3) She seldom goes to bed judging by the times of her posts.

Anyone second that?

I've been waiting actually for the mods (and I realise they have a mammoth job keeping the peace) - to ask me to make that Vendor's list again? I kept it in a Word file anyway, whenever they're ready, if it's what they want? As long as I can have editing rights kept open I can update it, and add discount codes too, as they change. I don't require any powers, I like being just one of the gang here.

Yeah i have started a topic in mods & diy "what batteries" would be good to have a sticky of reputable suppliers and good make batteries, especially in the light of what has happened. And tell tell sign of batteries falling what to look for. A new user guide to batteries, if you like.

Cheers
