My uncle's a sheep farmer and he's got a fair few lambs already. Not great when the weather's as cold as it has been here these last few days. ;)

Alan.

That's probably bang on - Last time I spoke to my uncle was a couple of weeks ago and he was telling me about the newborns.

Dunno how he deals with lambing season at his age (pushing 70) but it's in the blood, I guess. :)

Thanks Garza - a really cheering thought at last; just went to put recycling out and it's nobbling out there; still, the crocuses are flowering in what the dog has left of my garden.

I know it appears so, but I was answering in the dribbley language she's used to. :)

I wasn't aware it was still used, apart from my son coming back from school spouting gibberish I haven't heard it once round here in about six years. You might think you have if you bump into some pissed-up item from the vaaaleeeys but you haven't, they're trying to speak Engklisjh

Maz, you know that's absolute rollocks; it's painted all over the roads, every bill we get has a duplicate sheet in "The language of Heaven" as the late, much loved Ryan dubbed it, and zillions go on schools where every subject is taught through the medium of Welsh. As for speaking it though......try Swansea Market on a Thursday - I've heard it there, I think!

lol..

In places like Swansea it's just a waste of paint, ink and paper writing it everywhere, no bugger can understand it, around here it's just a bloody nuisance. The worst example of bilingual bollocks are the booklets and books printed by Swansea council, on the rare occasion you might have cause to read one you get precisely half way through and then you panic that you've suddenly had a stroke as it goes from (reasonably) legible info to upside down gibberish because some genius came up with the masterstroke of printing English if you open the book from one side one way up and Welsh if you open it from the other side the other way up.
If anyone should know nobody in Swansea speaks Welsh it should be Swansea ufcking council!

Whenever someone mentions the language I instantly think of this Blackadder quote, I can't help myself

Quote

Blackadder : Have you ever been to Wales Baldrick?
Baldrick : No, but I've often thought I'd like to.
Blackadder : Well don't, it's a ghastly place. Huge gangs of tough sinewy men roam the valleys terrorising people with their close-harmony singing. You need half a pint of phlegm in your throat just to pronounce the placenames. Never ask for directions in Wales Baldrick, you'll be washing spit out of your hair for a fortnight.

I thought that down thar - with you Western Welshies, <=(wasn't that a bus service in Pontypool in the past?) - it was all phlegm and patriotism? According to my mother, they're all upper class and related to Welsh royalty, there, in Pontarddulais, and those in the East are just hybrid barbarians? (But she isn't generally renown for the full bag of marbles) :)
