can you tell detail about what it needs to do sand art?

Air compressor, sandblasting cabinet and fine hardened sand. I mask off the area that I dont want blasted, most importantly threads! then on a low pressure etch the surface. Then once happy peel off the tape, blow with airline and then wash as the dust will get everywhere, even if taped up. Screw back together and have a well earned vape

i thought it was illegal to use sand because of the silica in the air (read this somewhere today searching about sandblasting lol)

We call it sand but may not be, we use an enclosed system that sucks all the dust through filters. Used to use a product called silver sand but this is banded due to silica. Reckon the stuff we use now is a man made substitute and for letter engraving granite we use hardened bauxite, but this is far too abrasive for what I want to etch the surface. Luckily have a little stash of finer grade grit tucked away

I was reading that people use glass beads and crushed walnut shells.

Yes to remove paint but we need to engrave granite so walnut shells and glass beads are not abrasive enough, could use glass beads for the sand arting but the fine grit works nice, and I have some of it handy lol.

No the laser etching has gone, I prefer this rather than it being left there sort of half visible.
