Men...pah... :goofy:

OH has practically fallen through the front door having been massively delayed on the very hot train back from Bristol. "I'm really, really ill, I must go to bed now"

A short interrogation (while he's removing his clothes as he walks up the stairs) reveals he's headachey, alternating between shivering and sweating, burping a lot, has no chest pain and had tuna sandwiches for lunch (yes, I have a list of pertinent questions prepared for these eventualities, having been here before...)

Probably not dying then  .

Ah bless his cotton socks - he's got the dreaded Man-flu! Show a bit of sympathy you lot.
I've been out in the garden nearly all day getting my knees brown - feels so strange wearing a skirt when you live in jeans - too hot for those today. Crazy climate, we'll probably be freezing next week. How did things go yesterday pkr? Hope you got some kind of satisfaction, it's so frustrating dealing with these bods. Yes, FK - Mumbles just a 5 min walk from here and Langland one of my favourite haunts - can't take the dog there until October though, so I just don't go. Have been applying Roundup liberally today Jo, it really is a great product, takes a hell of a lot of work out of the job and knocked down a massive thing growing between path and bungalow in just 24 hours. Mercifully, I think Pippa has given up digging so will be able to fill all the holes she made last year when she was a babby. Any of you keen gardeners? I do it cos I have to, son loathes it but will run petrol mower over grass and zap hedges when he has to, which helps. Not spent a lot of time on here today but shared a moment with Steve on his new thread - I reckon we're all a bit loopy on UKV but it helps keep me half-sane. Bed now, more work waiting tomorrow, hope my back holds up. Nighty-night.

Nighty night Dragonmum
Went ok yesterday, thankyou for asking :) looks like weekly appointments with this professional for fore-seeable future, possible reduced time-table at school with some home schooling was mentioned, will need lots of consideration as will mean giving up my job.
Good for you getting the gardening done, nice weather for it. I dont particularly enjoy gardening or have any talent, I just do jobs that need doing before the neighbours start complaining lol What is nice is the sense of accomplishment that comes when these tasks are taken on, that good feeling of having had a productive day as you ease your bones in a nice bath at the end of the day :)
Hope your other half feels better Katy

.......What do you think of us so far Smithy? And what's digitising? - I'm the ignoramus of our little bunch - Boady's the brain-box.

Seem like an emminently fab bunch to me ;-)
Oh yes, sorry, digitising is scanning a hand-drawn plan into the computer and then re-drawing it digitally. Makes it look neater and easier to put into a report! Hate doing it though, boring and annoying, which is why I have been dodging it and faffing about with other stuff instead. Or making more tea. I live on tea. :-D

Wow PKR, I'm not sure I could manage raising a child, studying and working at the same time, let alone with the additional difficulties you're facing. I do hope you manage to sort something. I can provide much advice on procrastination 'though...'tis a forte of mine  .

DM, I'm a really keen gardener but have to content myself with pots at the new place. No beds or borders, except a few weedy ones at the front - even then I couldn't help myself and dug them over, making a bit of space for a few extra bits and bobs.

Must find a couple of photos of the old place. Most of the garden pics are on film but I have a few digital ones somewhere.

Back at the house of death the OH has been twice reprimanded for the bleedin' racket...seriously he frightens the living daylights out of me. I go charging upstairs to find he's actually not writhing in agony but cold...or hot...or is attempting to get out of bed to go for a wee. I have now turned on the heating, turned up the TV and gone into another room so he can bloody groan all he likes- :lalala: . I do hope he doesn't want feeding as we have now run out of food  .

Morning all. Before I troll off to get my runner beans in, just wondered what's happened to Michelle (Wildcat). Don't think she's posted since the poor old cat got sick - hope she's OK. FK I think my Victoria plum is very ill; very young tree, fruited last year and set fruit now, but the leaves are all crinkling - not looking good, any ideas? Hope your man has survived the night - seriously, there are some vile bugs around at the mo, just heard of a neighbour dropped off perch with pneumonia following infection. Yippee, I'm still here!! Sorry about that, but it wasn't a close neighbour. You are a right bunch of tea-pots, doesn't seem to have done you any harm Boady. I'm a bit of an aquaholic - 2 litres a day, plus tea at bedtime and coffe whenever - thank God for a strong bladder. Right, back to the plantation, tote that barge lift that bale, etc. See y'all later.

I think plumb trees are a little delicate and more susceptible to all sorts of effects from frost to fungus attacks, so they probably take a lot of expertise and a few years established growing to become strong and immune? Even down there in mild temperate Swansea, with the eastern wind blowing occasionally from Chernobyl Talbot, I'm surprised any trees survive, and all the inhabitants aren't running about with webbed fingers and three legs! Sounds to me all this farm work, is keeping you fit DM? :)

I envy you your garden DM, the place we were going to buy had a huge garden with fruit trees down one end...was looking forward to sitting with tea and listening to the birds after work! Still, as someone who digs for a living when on site I know how blooming hard work it can be!
At the moment I am trying to keep cool indoors (I hate the heat, im a winter person) and playing with my new Mako after fitting the middi sleeve and trying out a glass tank from siam mods. Wondering what to keep it in when traveling around for work as well...
Then I really must DO something as I am working the rest of the week.

Well, OH seems to have survived the night :talktohand: . In fact soooooo ill was he that by the time I emerged today (from the spare room farthest away from the groaning) he had managed to locate the Blackberry and mobile phone, contacted work, rung the estate agent and had the newspaper and 'to do' list beside the bed. He was in relapse by that stage apparently  .

Smithy, I'm also not a summer person and loathe the heat but this house has a south facing 'garden' and conservatory so it's sweltering on one side and dark on the other. I feel like Dracula stuck indoors and potting up plants in the garage :bat: . There is one stunted sycamore tree, slap bang in the middle of the 'garden' and a beautiful copper beach in the garden of the house behind which give some shade on the lawn so I do occasionally venture out for a tea and vape break before scurrying back inside  .

DM, Boady's right, plum trees can be susceptible to quite a variety of pests and diseases. Could be insect attack before the leaves fully opened (you may still find creepy crawlies inside the crinkled leaves), Silver Leaf (a fungal disease), salty winds or even drought (or wet) at a vulnerable point. I'm not really a fruit 'n' veg person 'though so it's guesswork really. I would suggest (my cure-all for everything) a good drenching with liquid seaweed feed all round the root area (unless the soil is already very wet) and spray all the leaves too, as it's still small enough. Wait 'til the sun's not on it 'though or the poor thing will scorch (could be that too).
