okay what we have now isnt perfect.. nether was tobacco.. to be honest i expected e cigs to be banned in the UK i am rather surprised thy havnt been.. i dont think they will be now.. but i could be wrong

but yesterday we took an order for 25 unpacked ecigs.. just SDK things.. Singapore is the destination.. the person want just loose batteries and chargers.. not cheaper simply to get them.. e cigs are illegal in Singapore.. Australia is the same.. quite a few other places are..

no matter how perfect e cigs are the addictive drug factor will always be a problem..

trog

yep, you got it. but alcohol is addictive also. don't forget that we've already fought this prohibition war before (in the US) and won.

i'm really not surprised by the UK regulatory development. you guys have an annoying 'fly in the ointment' tendency that is very endearing. if anything the UK has the lead on the regulatory issues right now. another reason i'm following here. to see how the puritans are planning to "re-corrupt" the homeland.

There may or may not be innovative development of the atomiser in cartomisers, but apart from the minority "enthusiast" vapers, the emphasis will be on cheapness, as they will be just as much a use and throw away product, as cigarettes are presently.

Not so sure about batteries, not very eco-friendly to be using "one time use" batteries, so a simpler pop in and auto charge system, rather than the screw on chargers we have at the moment... perhaps even similar to mobile phone chargers... the pre-filled, one use cartomisers will probably be push fit also.

That's a point. I do wonder why threads are still in use even now, when it seems it'd be far simpler just to stick a little neodymium magnet in the battery and make sure the centre of the atty base is magnetic.

^ Probably because threading makes absolutely sure a short isn't going to occur by user error..also I suspect it's cheaper than a magnet.
It's been widely acknowledged that smoking is a leading cause of statistics, here's some :

LOL, It always boils down to cost among other elements! That's why Jags never look as good as orginaly planned! The pesky accountants get hold of the blue prints and bam! You end up with a ford escort with a jag badge.

It would cost more (by a few pence per unit, tops) but they could also charge more for it thanks to the extra convenience and ease of use, and a magnet is no more likely to short than threads if it's built the same way (insulated centre pins, fairly tight fit). In fact, with threads theres a possibility of stray metal burrs getting stuck in the insulator there which means an extra step during manufacture to make sure the threads are all clear, plus cutting threads costs more in tooling initially and over time than simply drilling. Getting rid of threads should also reduce the diameter and weight of the connectors and allows them to be made from weaker, cheaper metals. I just don't see how the threads would win in terms of cost or ease of manufacture.

A simple bayonet fitting would suffice, as it would only be fitted until it ran out, then discarded... cheaper than a screw thread.

some things are left overs.. a disposable is a good example of this.. to be cheap they should just be one piece all in one units.. no need for two separate pieces at all or the brass threads.. they could even be all plastic.. just a simple tube with battery and carto combined.. five in a packet for a tenner.. take one out use it then chuck it.. not very planet friendly but nether is lots of things we do..

"progress! maybe.. but for us lot maybe not.. he he

throw away batteries period aint planet friendly but they are still the mass use device.. :)

trog

ps.. not all things are well designed but they get there in the end.. :)

Yes, it is the disposing of batteries that may give the greenies apoplexy if dumped in their millions Trog, and it will be millions in the not too distant future, which is why I think a rechargable battery, albeit simpler to plug and auto charge, and push or bayonet fitting cartomiser may be more acceptable.

Some time in the future i can see a letter like this being sent out.

To the research department at FAGS tobacco PLC
Dear Boffin s

Please spend a few million (no more than twenty five to start with)
We need a one piece e-cigarette it must be a light weight sealed unit far lighter than anything on the market at the moment.
They are to be made of cellulose paper and be no larger than super king size.
It is vital that they cant be refilled or recharged I cant stress this strongly enough (cock it up and you are out the door)
Each unit is to be equal to not less than 10 fags
The unit when about to run dry must start to buzz when down to the last ten drags before terminating itself.
As a planet conscious company intend to offer a small return deposit on them to keep the streets clean.

Yours THE BOSS

PS only joking about the twenty five million spend what you like we are making so much from selling fags in the third world
PPS You have three months to complete this task if not done by then don't come back to work as I will set the dogs on you

Sorry Cigeliquid, FAGS Tobacco PLC won't exist in the future..........

Fast forward to 2032... it has been a few years now since Lord Trog took on board some of the ideas of a certain OldEngineGuy... now 85 and living in abject poverty in N Wales...designed the perfect disposable catalytic cartomiser, became the head of Trog International Enterprises and was honoured for services to the health of the nation...

From his headquarters at Screwdriver castle, formerly Windsor castle, gifted by a grateful royal family, he continues to upset Parliament on a regular basis with his controversial comments, but as he is the parties main financial benefactor, and indeed Britain's largest employer with his cartomiser and e-liquid factories, since our labour costs are now much less than those of China and India, indeed, the rest of the world, no one dare contradict him.

Tiring of having sport with the dwindling membership of UKVapers, he is presently commanding his puppet MP's to put a motion to the floor of the commons to outlaw all mods, apart from the Screwdriver and it's derivates.

Well... it could happen............ 'specially the abject poverty bit.
