Hello all,

Right I am as new as you can get to the whole vaping scene so don;t know what any of your words mean, like atty for example.

I have been vaping since Feb 1st 2012 so been 10 days without a cancer stick, doing well so far apart from one hairy moment when my battery dies and I needed a fix but still managed to stay off the fags :)

Right so i've got some questions as i'm really getting into this vaping stuff but know sod all.
The E-fag I bought is from Juicycigs.com on the following link http://www.juicycigs...te-joye510.html that is not the price I paid as I got a discount using the following code TVC015 so paid £34.

If I wanted to buy new upgraded parts for my e-fag how would I know which one's are compatible? Which parts fit my e-fag?

What's the crack with getting a beter atomizer? Low frequency or high frequesncy what is all this about?

Also was thinking of getting a battery that would last longer, but again i don;t know what is good and what will fit on my e-fag.

Currently I have these cartidges that I have to drop a few drops of e-liguid into on a sponge that absorbs the liquid then away I go which lasts about the same time as a fag I presume. What are these other type of cartridges I can buy like a drip tip or cartomizer thingy.

Sorry for all the questions but i really am lost in this vaping world and when trying to read up on stuff everyone seems to use alot of scene lingo related to the vaping world which i don;t know the meaning of.

All help and advice even links to websites would be much appreciated, so thanks in advance and i'm sure i'll bump into you guys on the forum at some point.

Oh and one other thing, where is a good place to get your liquids from and which liquids are the best and where does the best deals and so on.

The idea of people making and mixing there own sounds quite scary with nicotine in a pure form being poison according to some sites so deffo don't wanna make any of my own.

So O.K - hadn't met that particular firm before but it looks a reasonable starter kit. Haven't looked at prices of replacement parts for it but initial outlay is about average. There are cheaper & better options but, like me, you didn't trawl the forums. I think you'll find a glossary of vaping terms on here somewhere. An attie is an atomiser, the little expensive bit that cooks what's in the cartridge which you push onto it, a cart is the cartridge. A carto is a cartomiser which is a lot cheaper because not expected to last as long and classed as disposable - mine last weeks now. Others will brief you on the technical bull - I'm no more aware of that side of things than I was two years ago! All I know is the stuff works, and you'll bless the day you picked up your starter!

Condoms are not what you may think. Over to you Trog!

I think for some folks unfamiliar with forums asking seems the obvious way to get information.
Not everyone finds all this stuff old news and understands stickies etc.

It's also a good way to start getting to know people imo.

Asif,, Lord knows what half of the great and good on this forum are on about!

I suppose it is going to depend on what you want from Vaping, (yep new word. You're a 'Vaper' not a smoker)

If you want to be all technical then you're gonna need a modified bit of kit or a 'mod'

If you just want to get nicotine into you cleanly, legally and easily stick to a 'lookalike'.

I'm in the latter catagory and use a lookalike from Jacvapour.com and refill the cartomisers with Ecopure from Intellicig (dont use their unit) with a drop of flavouring from Jacvapour in. Sorted. 'cos I cant be bothered to faff about I suppose.

A cartridge or cart is as you know filled with filler that you can drop about 10 - 12'ish drop of liquid on.

An atomizer or atty can be used with both a cart or drip tip for dripping your juice onto, about 3 - 4 drops and away you go.

A cartomizer or carto is in the simplest terms a cart plus atomizer combined, you simply fill the carto using either a syringe. spiky thing ( a long plastic nozzle) or the condom method, all you do with this, is to drop about 12 - 15 drops of liquid into the rubber cap that was on the carto, insert one end and push down slowly until all the liquid is absorbed, leave stand for 30 mins or overnight to soak, then vape.

A Clearomizer or clearo is similar to a carto but is clear, you can see how much juice is in the clearo and when you need to 'top up'. Some clearo's are better than others, review what you can.

Tanks are what you fill with liquid but have a carto in them that the juice seeps into, they vary in size, shape and metals, you can also get clear ones.

As for liquids, Liberty Flights, Safercigs and Vapourworld is where I get mine from, check out the vendor post for more links to other vendors, there are many to chose from all with varying prices.

Check out VTTV for reviews http://www.vapourtrails.tv/ go to the archive section and have a good long watch, also check out 'igetcha's, romistino's (sp) and easystreets' (to name a few here) reviews, all good stuff.

You will need a big wallet though, cos once you start on the 'mods', it gets additive.

Happy vaping

Hi Asif,

I think most people started like you with a smiliar kit like you bought. After a short while, the battery will get weak and the atomisers you got with it will start to taper off and not produce much flavour or vapour. Depending on how much you use it, the charge/juice is unlikely to last you the day either.

I'm 6 months into my vaping journey and am pretty happy using an ego/tornado style battery. They have a 510 connection, which is pretty much standard. Instead of using atomisers with a plug in e-liquid tank, you can upgrade to cartomisers, where the liquid and heating element is contained in the one unit. Dual coil cartomisers are great, better hit, more vapour and more flavour. If you want a cheap upgrade, get an ego style 510 battery and a few different cartomisers. Cartomisers are really cheap, like £1.50 each or something, so when they start to get a bit lame, you can just bin them and treat them as consumables. Some people talk about boiling and cleaning their old cartomisers, but the disposable carto is the way forward...

My advice would be to shop around, spend some time reading the various sections on the forums and visiting the retailers' websites that people mention and having a look at what's on offer. Sounds like you're already on the right path to becoming a non-smoker, well done

Hi again asif. The kit you have is a 510 - this refers to the size of the thread fitting on your battery and atomisers. This is a very widely used standard, so there are many things that will work with your kit. The link you give doesn't indicate the life of the battery, but I am guessing from your question that it doesn't last too long between charges. The time between charges is indicated by the capacity rating of the battery and I suggest you look for one that is at least 750mAh, preferably more - that should last you for a day or more. Good choices are the Riva or the eGo. A good starting point for something to put the juice in is a cartomiser - Boge or Kanger are fine and widely available. They come as either standard resistance (SR) or low resistance (LR) The LR ones will give you a warmer vape and a bigger throat hit. Get a drip tip as well to stick on the metal end of the cartomiser. If you look in the shopping sub forum you will find a list of vendors and a list of discount codes to use. Once you get going, look at reviews etc., you will find many ways of further upgrading your kit and many different types of things to stick on the end of your batteries!

I see you are being your usual helpful self Trog. What's the matter did Asif not mention the magic words like SDK or Screwdriver and so you don't want to know?
Sometimes I wonder why you stay a member of this forum!! and don't give the old guff that you want to be banned as this place is making you money whether you admit it or not.
This is not the first time you have been rude to new members and I for one am disgusted by your infantile behaviour.

I apologise to the mods for disrupting the thread.

I also apologise to Asif but would reasure him that the rest of us are friendly as can be seen by the other responses to his questions.

Rant over.

I was always told , "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything".

Anyhoo welcome Asif, you will find all the parts of your ecig can be swapped out. Making it difficult to answer your question in a sentence or two.

Bigger "Ego" type batteries will fit your atomisers, as will a lavatube. Just depends on what size you want to end up with. Some people dont want to feel they are sucking on a thing the size of a maglite in public, others don't care as long as they get the hit they need.

You can swap your atomisers for cartomisers and tank sysems, but then you may find the original batteries are a bit wimpy.

Or if you are happy , just keep on vaping the way the kit came.

Have a trawl in the vendors section for discount codes , buy a few new atomisers and maybe a drip tip and head into the world of 5ml flavour pick and mixes.

It is all down to what suits you.
Does it cause as much harm as sunlight ?

my advice; buy a new kit with bigger batteries. can't go far wrong with the 'eGo model'.

although trog may come accross like a ****, he's not that bad - he owns a shop that sells a very decent 'SD Ego' kit for £30 (on sale) whether you buy it or boycott it, I'll leave it up to you lol :)

Thanks Kenny,
To be honest after reading Trogs comment it did kinda make me as a noob feel like not posting.
Guys you have given me loads of info to chew through, many thanks for your info.

Just for the record I posted in this section asking what I did for a few reasons, one it clearly states that this is the section for newbie questions, also when I was reading up to gain info there was so much jargon used that I didn;t know what the hell people were on about, I couldn't find a glossary to explain the jargon so I was a bit stuck.
I plucked up the courage to ask some daft noob questions and I got a cold reply from trog and some good decent replies from the rest of you nice people.

Trog can you please personally explain taking the above into account how the hell would I gain more knowledge from searching this forum if I don't understand the lingo???
Don't say go on the internet because if that is the case you might aswell scrap this whole forum andd just use the internet.

Jeez he's got a shop? I thought he'd have more sense than this then.

Think about it this way if the owner of a business had a business brain - I own a shop that sells vaping goodies to people that have most likely stopped smoking, they takee up this new habit that stops them from smoking, so the smoker no longer pays out aprox £7 a day on fags so they have about £49 going spare a week to spend on there new hobby that is freeing up money they can spend on there new habit (atleast to start with)
Bingo there is a newbie section with people asking noob questions, be nice to them earn there trust and guide them to your shop they spend money with you and hey presto you got people buying from you and most probably like Maff did you'd tell someone else about the shop.

But Trogs idea LOL come in the newbie section, put someone down and do one, that is not a good sign matey.

Ok let's start by giving you a warm welcome not all of us are like trig most are very friendly

Normally / rarely do I bash anyone but Trog come on we was all a newbie once I think you are a very brave and clever man and have helped the community a lot with your inventions sdk and screwdriver both of which are excellent bits of kit but why are you so mean or argumentative but I guess everywhere worth being has characters look at x factor for an example the only time I found that worth watching was when Chico was on it and he was a right twat lol ok rant over now for some advice from my limited experience

Bigger battery with a 510 connection be that a mod or standard ego type does not matter if your getting enough from what you are already using and just want longer battery life

To look for the above try liberty flights , safercigs , cloud9 and many others but that's the ones I have used in the past

If your not satisfied with the hit / vaper you are getting at the minute try a low resistance atomiser or low resistance cartomiser like the new stardust from safercigs again should be in stock this week I have tried them myself and they are good

If you wanna jump in the deep end then try Vari voltage devices lavatube , howitzer, provari and the box mods offered on here by throathit and others try google / youtube to have a look at above mods it will give you an idea as to what there like

If you are after cheap eliquid look no further than vapourzone you can get any cheaper without making you own or buying in bulk

I hope I have helped first to make you feel welcome and secondly with the advice

2 months into vaping and maybe can offer some of my experience and views. I started with mini ecig but very quickly found the battery life was an issue, bought a usb pass thru allowed me to sit at my pc and vape all day, not very practical for the car, pub or match. Anyway very quickly moved onto a RIVA 510 with 600mah battery which lasts me almost all day without charging. I had a duff usb charger and 1 duff battery which left me desperate so bought another kit same same ie 510 riva effectively to provide a constant supply of batteries and 2 usb chargers and hopefully this will now last me another 8 months. I have been really tempted by the VV Provari, lavatube and all the mods but at the end of the day you have a lot more to try out first and getting a good battery set up not too many variables is a good base.
Now for carts atties clearos and tanks. What can I say other than try them all out until you find your favourite. I am still waiting to find mine and dont rush into buying loads of 1 type when you think you have found it you wont your taste buds change and your vaping changes. I have kangers,boges,ce2,ce3,eliq and DV 901 etc. I constantly revert back to kangers, boges burn to hot for me but i havent tried the higher ohms yet. I put my ce3s away ordered more ce2's and now cant put my ce3's down. My eliq leaks and I wash my kangers and use them all the time. They are not expensive so I suggest you suck and see until one day you find what you want.
Eliquids Vapourzone is one of the cheapest but look out for new suppliers eg Britvapes who enter the market with good deals. Most import anyway so you are going to get same same maybe different labels. Try and get samples cos you never know you may like fruits, chocolates, coffees, pies, tobaccos. Try PG and VG and a mix of the 2. Don't order too much at one time it will end up in your bottom drawer unless you can be bothered trading. Find a flavour you can stomach get 30mls and try and vape for a while using all your combos of cartomisers etc - you will probably end up hating it anyway and you will be searching for the next best vape.
Try an order direct from china eg healthcabin but dont expect it to turn up next week - put it in for delivery in a month time while you try other uk suppliers.
Get some DIY stuff too cos all the above is going to cost you money and maybe you want to at least see some sense to all this vaping this is where it makes lots of sense when you can mix your own eliquid for a fraction of the cost of even the cheapest chinese supplier. You may even find your favourite liquid here too but dont rush it cos my favourite so far takes at least a week to steep - (searching for steeping to find out).
Search the forum for tips but be careful what you read eg CE3 Smokymiser voted the worst product of the year and have had very bad reviews however they have most recently turned out to be my favourite cartomiser. Boges are better than kangers - they are not, horses for courses as one member suggested ie it all boils down to taste, voltage, mix and flavour.
Not sure if this helps but if I were to summarise you may have to find your own way here, treat it as a hobby and enjoy the experience. It will save you money, possibly your life and most certainly give you something to do to take your mind off those dammed cigarettes. After 35 years of smoking and never ever giving up I have vaped mostly succesfully for past 2 months and not touched a cigarette.
And finally my favourite supplier you can get 15% discount with a code - you will find it on the boards, but more important for any item you buy if you review it you get 34p off your next order - a great incentive to order more from same supplier which I do very regularly. I wont upset vendors by saying who as I think all vendors provide something you will find special whether it be lowest price liquid, free postage, CE3 smokymisers or whatever - wont take you long to find but rest assured you will end up using several over the coming months.
