Hi everyone. I'm a new member from Hertfordshire. Someone from another forum I visit recommended this forum to me.
I've been a smoker since I was twelve or thirteen. I'm twenty-eight now. For a while I've been thinking about cutting down/completely quitting the fags but have never really done much about it.
I'll be honest: I enjoy smoking. I like the taste, the ritual and the social side of it. I don't enjoy the smell and the cost though. And there's always the health risks!
Until recently, I didn't think anything would help me cut down/quit smoking. Then I found out about vaping.
I've spent the last few nights lurking on the forum, reading countless threads, watching dozens of reviews on YouTube, getting my head around the terminology and trying to decide what I should buy.
I'm currently smoking between 20-30 B&H Gold per day. I'm hoping that by starting vaping, I won't feel the need to smoke as much and will hopefully be able to kick them completely.
Whilst looking at various e-cigs I've tried to think about what's important to me and what I want to get from vaping. Three of the most important things are a good, harsh throat hit, plenty of vapour and a flavour as close to tobacco as possible.
So far i've decided to go with the Vgo starter kit from Jacvapour.com with 950mah batteries.
http://www.jacvapour...ter_kits_2.html
I really liked the look of it after watching some reviews but is there anything else I should be considering before I place an order?
I'm still trying to decide on which juices to try but I read that the HS Storm is about as close as it gets to a genuine tobacco taste. Has anyone got any other recommendations?
Thanks for taking the time to read this and I'd be interested to hear any recommendations or advice you might have for me.

Hello and welcome! You'll find lots of good advice round here.
I'll be honest: I enjoy smoking. I like the taste, the ritual and the social side of it. I don't enjoy the smell and the cost though. And there's always the health risks!
Yep, that's how I was. I had no intention of giving up but I read an article on e-cigs and thought 'might as well give them a go!'. Haven't looked back.
My advice is buy small bottles of e-liquid to start off - you'll find that your tastes change once you get your tastebuds back. When I first started vaping I vaped a lot of Halo Torque 56 which was a lot like smoking a cigarette. I have bought loads of different liquids since and I had a toke on some Torque 56 the other night and found that I didn't really like it anymore. I didn't like fruity liquids in the start but I'm coming round now...
Also you may think 'I like X flavour, I'll buy a lot of it!' - what you like to eat doesn't always equate with what's good to vape. Someone here said things you like the smell of might be a better guide.
If you want a tobacco hit then I would recommend Torque 56 or Vermillon River Kentucky Premium, I usually go for 24mg for boozy vaping, 18mg for all-day vaping.
Good luck!

ok matey, here's the briefing.
you won't get a juice that exactly replicates tobacco or smoking. i suggest you buy a range of different flavoured liquid in 5ml tester bottles, then you can have a go on a few different ones and see what suits you. liberty flights have a massive range.
the jacvapour kit is apparently decent, but another member who likes a harsh throat hit started with one, and quickly upgraded.
to a beginner, i can only recommend the 306LR really. it's a dripping atomiser, so no wooly filler like in cartos, and no filling up, just drip a few drops onto the atty when you want to vape.

Hello and welcome to the family. It may seem totally unattractive to you at this time in your experiences, but the tobacco flavours you seek, might prove to be unattainable. But all is not lost, and you will become a connoisseur of an alternative, that will be much better. It takes a few weeks to realise. We all started with your mindset. You have done well choosing the Vgo, it's one of the best systems.

Id highly reccommend the vermillion river kentucky range though they are great flavours but as its been said your taste buds will change over time anyway so get a range of sample bottles plus for that price you could geta riva 510 starter kit plus some liquid off liberty flights pretty much the same thing really only cheaper or a lava tube

Hey! I like being a noob!
And yes, I haven't found anything I like better than the VGo batteries, although I personally think the V3 cartos that come with it are sucktastic and have gone onto LR cartomisers for much better warmth, flavour and throat hit. Your mileage may - and almost certainly will - vary

Hi there and welcome home! Congrats on making a very hard decision (all though we tend to think it shouldnt be hard!)
You will discover with vaping (as I did) that it wasn't the toabcco I was after, it was the motion of smoking I needed replicated. I needed the hand to mouth, inhale, exhale, gratification that comes with smoking, that I personally associated with something that relaxed me, calmed me down ect.
You will also find some REALLY good flavours out there that you will wonder how you lived without them....and then the flavours you wished youd never heard of.
As a 22 year smoker, I enjoy sweet flavors like french toast, candies, banana flavoured desserts, and the occasional sweet tobacco flavor,(ry4 which i avoided until i got a bottle for my husband) and really enjoyed.
You'll learn a bajillion new words and abbreviations for things most people would call a doo hicky or a thingamajig.
But most of all, you will FEEL the affects of your health returning to you in a matter of weeks ( dont worry if you feel like crap the 1st few days or weeks, its just your body and your mind adjusting! ) Stick with it!
There is ALWAYS someone here to help you!

"I'm currently smoking between 20-30 B&H Gold per day. I'm hoping that by starting vaping, I won't feel the need to smoke as much and will hopefully be able to kick them completely."
Hello mate, I was on half an ounce of B&H gold rolling tobacco a day, and had no desire to stop smoking apart from the health issues which were beginning to show themselves (I've got over a decade smoking on you!) every morning and throughout the day. Doctor put me on inhalers and declared me an asthmatic, which was a bit worrying to say the least.
I started vaping in early January and haven't had a fag in six weeks, and haven't needed to use an inhaler in that time too - the difference in me has been night and day. I never thought I would stop smoking, but switching to vaping has made a dramatic difference to my health in a very short time.
Tobacco juices tend to taste like unburned tobacco in my opinion, but once you have found something that suits, you're up and running!
As BigJ has recommended, LR catromisers suit me best, as do LR atomisers for direct dripping - loads of taste and warmth - and plenty of vapour which does the trick for the need to blow out smoke.
Anyway - hope this has been helpful - give it a try and see what you think. It takes a little while to get used to the differences, but it really is something I can recommend to you 500%!

Each to their own but I'd be a bit wary of the Vermillion River Kentucky Range pal for your first liquid. Its a bit of an aquired taste .. .It has a sweet 'biscuity' taste to it which I couldn't get on with. I was smoking Marlboro Lights and as said above am yet to find a liquid that tastes very similar to cigarette, however your taste does change the more you vape. I was in the same boat as you asking all the same questions you are about two months ago .. and to be honest I am still sampling and trying. My favorite I have found so far though is the DK RY4 which I would recommend. Good luck with it all anyway it still does take some will power but I have cut down from around 90 cigarettes a week to about 10 at the most!!! So for me it definately helps.

Thanks for the warm welcome and words of advice.
I realise I'm never going to truly replicate smoking, I think it's the familiarity of the tobacco taste I'm looking for to make the transition as easy as possible. I'll be certain to order some tester bottles and start trying some different flavours - there's certainly plenty to choose from.
I think I'll go with the Vgo for now. I can always upgrade later.
A couple of quick questions before I start ordering stuff:
As far as throat hit goes, am I right in thinking the the higher the nicotine, the harsher the throat hit?
EJuices - the more VG, the more vapour? The more PG, the more throat hit? Or am I wrong?
Buying supplies - obviously there's loads of places to buy online but do any 'real stores' stock vaping supplies? It would be great to go and have a look at some stuff before ordering.

PG means more TH and the higher nic kind of helps as well! VG means LOADS of vapor lol but you will find with the PG/VG blends, you will get enough vapor.
I started off with 24mg, dropped to 16-18mg now and dont notice a different, I buy all pg/vg blends (but I do have some PG only and the taste on them is great as well)
My fave shops are
switch2-ecigs.com
vapeescape.co,uk
ecigwizard.com
safercigs is run by Daz who is a top bloke
I haven't ordered from him yet, but he is popular here.
While you are looking at tabac flavors, be adventurous too and pick out a flavor or 2 or 3 of something different, Like White Chocolate (from vapeescape) or Smurfberry (from Paradise Vape Uk) and experiment with those "untraditionals" I bet you'll find you like them too! (Im currently vaping pizza yummmmmmmmmy haha)
Have fun too, and get excited about your new habit

Taste is very subjective.
I don't think the VR juices mentioned on this thread have any tobacco taste to them at all.
The closet to ciggie taste I've used have been vape escape Silky and a couple of TW liquids.
Hilton and their version of M/boro I think.
TBH the flavours have been much more of a challenge than finding decent kit.
Most of the hardware does its job in one way or another, admittedly some better than others.

No, you won't 'truly' replicate smoking, and you will have an extremely hard job to find a liquid that tastes exactly like a cigarette.
What you may well find though (as I did), that once you experiment with a few flavours and find some you like, you will stop looking for the holy grail of cigarette tasting juices and realise that there are a lot more flavours to choose from and many of them taste much MUCH better than cigarettes!!
Now I don't say that with vast experience as I have only been vaping a few weeks, I have many more juices to try, but right now my faves are RY4 for most of the day and Desert Ship when I want something a bit more fag like (or if I'm boozing)

Heh, it's funny how people's tastes differ - my husband (ex Marlboro Light smoker like meself) thinks VR Kentucky tastes like a rollie, my friend (Marlie Red smoker) thinks it tastes of toffee. I think it tastes of strong tobacco and bourbon. Both of them loved the Torque. Now meself and himself are very partial to a bit of RY4.
But yes, VR Kentucky It is a bit of an acquired taste.
