So we lost the social groups feature in the move. Bit of a blow but not necessarily a bad thing as we can keep the traffic on the main forums. What I propose to do instead is the following -

Under the 'Community' category I suggest adding two new forums, one titled Vape Clubs and the other, unsurprisingly, titled Social Groups.

They could then have subforums as the need arises, so for example the structure would look like this:

Community

The Lounge

UK Vapefest

Vape Clubs

Greater London Vapers

Yorkshire Vapers

Social Groups

Beer Lovers

Metal Fans

I would suggest a number of around 5 interested members would be needed to be granted a subforum, and prospective new groups could be posted about in the main Vape Clubs and Social Groups forums.

How does this sound? It's not quite as easy to administer but should be workable. The only nagging doubt I have is that the social groups section might end up consisting of lots of things that could have just been posted in The Lounge.

Anyway, your feedback about this would be appreciated. :)

Same here :)

As both the Yorkshire and London groups are having "MicroFests" this weekend, I'm sure we'd welcome a place to plan future meets and events. North or South - we're a sociable bunch!

Yeah, I think it will definitely work well for the vape clubs (is clubs the right term, anyone got a better title?), I'm just a bit dubious about social groups. That said, if it all goes to hell in a handbasket posts can be moved into the off topic forum and subforums can be deleted. I guess we won't know until we try.

It probably wouldn't be very busy but can we have a gay group please? Is there any chance of an opt in system so only members of the group can see its forum?

That's great, thanks. It's good to have somewhere to go to bitch about the breeders and compare recipes ;)

When I figure out the usergroups a bit more (not sure if you can have publicly joinable groups like you could on vbulletin) I'll let you know for sure. Just keep in mind, mine and the global mods eyes will be everywhere, so no plotting to overthrow us in the dark corners of your private forum. :D

Yeah but you'll be bound by a strict oath of overseer secrecy and anyway if you give away any of our queer world domination plans we'll find you in real life and make you watch back to back episodes of Ellen and Prisoner Cell Block H until you scream for mercy.

Well, you may not fit under a category of lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgendered but if you like bitching about breeders I think you definitely belong in a 'queer' category. All we have to do is add a 'Q' to the LGBT label and you're in ;)

Maybe 'Queer as Fuck' would be a good name for a group ....

or maybe not.

Okie dokies, I shall attempt to set this up tomorrow.

Before I do, any objections to the term 'Vape Clubs' and if so, please suggest alternatives. :)

I have to say I prefer e-smoking to vaping, but I dare bet I'm outnumbered...

E-cigs are not "quit smoking" devices - they are an alternative way to smoke, but with a much reduced risk profile. Believe this - it's true. E-cig users are NOT quitters.
