These subforums are designed to replace the old vBulletin 'Social Groups'. Unfortunately they're not quite as easy to maintain in the sense that I have to set them up and take them down manually, rather than the process being automated by the founding member.

So, unless I figure out a better way, this is how to get a social group forum started.

Post the idea for your group in a thread in the Social Groups forum, also stating if you want it to be public or private.

Gain the interest of at least 5 members (they must reply to your thread).

Once 5 members have expressed an interest I'll set your forum up.

Private groups are possible but not nearly as easy to maintain. Once a private group is set up it basically means I have to add further members to the appropriate usergroup manually. It won't be too much bother if there are only a handful of them, but if there are a huge number it could become a problem. So please think carefully about whether your group really warrants being private. I'm not trying to put people off requesting private groups, just asking for some common sense to be applied. A group all about music for example probably doesn't need to be private - one about mental health likely would. :)
