Description: 284ml of tasty goodness. Hints of chocolate, whiskey - overall really rich flavour and at 7.5% on a par with Guiness Foreign Extra.

Went to a beer festival recently and there were 35 different varieties to try - this one was one of my favourites:


Name of Beer: Normans Conquest
Abv %: 7%
Brewery: Cottage Brewing Co
Beer type: Strong Ale
Description: brewed with Maris Otter pale, crystal and chocolate malts and hopped with Challenger. It is a full bodied, deep ruby beer with delicious hints of chocolate, bitter orange and vine fruits.

Description: not as strong as some but a rich and satisfying flavour. Brewed in my home town of Wombwell.

Description: Rich, malty and goes down a treat..puts guinness to shame.

Beer type: Imperial Stout
Description: Pitch black when poured, almost no head. Smells of whisky and alcohol. Tastes of spiced chocolate and roasted malt. Absolutely fantastic beer. If you find it for sale anywhere, buy it.(or check their website)




Thanks to a friend of mine I finally got to try this(vintage 2007) yesterday, rated as the best beer in England and in the top 50 of the world.

Description: Draught can...Ultra fine session beer due to its low alco content however nothing is missing from the taste, very easy to drink.

Name of Beer: Saint Petersburg
Abv %: 7.7%
Brewery: Thornbridge Brewery
Beer type: Russian Imperial Stout
Description: 'Dark brown with a creamy tan head, almost latte like in appearance. Lemony, minty hop nose with underlying chocolate-caramel. Big, sweet roasted malt in the mouth with hints of chicory and bitter coffee. Some dark chocolate and wisps of peaty smoke. Boozy, bitter finish with some roasted hazelnut and maple syrup characters. Nice, slightly dry, bitter ending.' I thought it was like liqueur-ish licorice sticks
