Yeah, sorry Rufus, I was thinking of the discussion in general, not trying to prove anything.
I'm pretty sure the letter is real, I'm 99% certain that's not a hoax. The content may be the imaginings of a government employee or not, I don't know. The official announcement is due in September.

Well...
After reading the letter about 6 times, the question is...
How does that trading standards area know the 'as yet undecided' outcome.
Do they know.. or is it just guess ?

Indeed. In fact, if she has been privy to a decision that has actually been made, but is not currently in the public domain, she should be reported for leaking confidential information....
What was the question this letter is a response to?

Hi everybody, i have had an email reply from Helen Wale she has asked me if i work for the MHRA or am i a user of the product, i have replied that i am a long term user of the product as well as working as an area manager in the industry for a uk based manufacturer. Asking me if i work for the MHRA was a strange question. I will keep you all informed.

Lol
Its an old trick, answering the question with a question.
However in this case I think that the 'tactic' speaks for its self.

Ok I have a reply for you all. Case closed for now.
Dear Tim
I have not had a direct contact from MHRA. My information was second hand through another trading standards authority who said they had been in contact with MHRA. My letter, in hindsight, was poorly worded in that I should have said "we understand the outcome will be...." or "the likely outcome....", or "the outcome may be.....". I believe there were/ are 3 outcomes being discussed by the MHRA and I did acknowldge in the letter that the consultation had not finished yet.
Obviously my letter was not intended for public consumption. Appologies for any confusion.
Regards
Helen Wale

Great stuff, thanks for that news Tim.
I've heard from some media peeps who are interested now in what's happening so it looks like our friend Helen has given us a big opportunity to participate.

I think panic is the operative word though Scott.
It certainly was my reaction when I desperately tried to scroll down the page at a snail's pace on my mobile as I passed through Clapham.
I still hold this utopian vision of us vaping in coffee shops and pubs, enjoying get togethers like our recent one, where a table of bottles and a fine mist in the air was acceptable inside a pub.
It is not the buying of liquid that worries me as much as all the people we could help cut down smoking, all the smokers standing around station entrances and pub doorways who could find this a better way.
I have encouraged and demonstrated to many people - I would say a fair percentage of those seemed to be interested enough to try out a kit (of course it's highly probable that I have some form of horrible wasting disease from letting them all suck on my bits) - the more the merrier I say - we can only make a noise and be noticed if there are many.
I would urge everyone that worried and fretted and mildly panicked when they read this thread, to please not forget that feeling - it is easy to feel relief but I fear that is just temporary.
We do need to start being a bit evangelical - support Cam-vip, talk to your locals and coffee shops... get people involved.

Many thanks Tim, pretty much exactly as many of us thought, I think.
Poor woman is probably due some sort of bollocking but credit to her for being completely honest now.

I apologise if my presentation of the letter contributed to the 'panic'. It was my intention to catch the attention of the media, bureaucrats and politicians and I didn't realise that people who knew the issues would be so worried by it.
EDIT
What trade assoc, Scott?

I personally function better in panic mode.
I hurtle from crisis to disaster with ease, it's the procrastination and laziness in between that I can't deal with.

Don't apologise Kate, I think that you and all the others who participated have now (hopefully) succeeded in bringing the media's attention to this story we should all be grateful for those efforts.
Thanks again.
