Hi guys, im gonna have to choose a new company car in 3 months and im torn between these 2.
i dunno how to post pic's or links etc. google em and see which 1 looks the nicer motor IYO.
Both are identical in what i want in a car and the price doesnt matter.
Its came down to which is nicer to look at.
Help me choose cause im really torn betweem em!

VW no debate.

The BMW 1 series is very disappointing, everyone knows it's the BMW that people get if they're desperate for the badge, but can't afford a real one.

The Scirocco isn't as understated as a Golf, but it's very much a quality bit of kit. I've had several VW's over the years including the Corrado VR6, they've all been excellent.

Tyke...like a poor mans bmw? i agree. could get a 3 series but at the VERY bottom off the range. (feel even poorer lol)
dave...wannabe...yeah it is a sorta snob thing. maybe a part of me wants to be a snob :talktohand: (rubs faces).
but i do love the veedub (interior is nicer with a top quality touchscreen media system).
and it looks cool from the front (back is like a cats arse lol)

No more choices? My daughter once chose top of the range Saab and boy that was a big mistake after 6 months of repairsthat they couldnt fix. They scrapped a and she got a BMW3series estate.

i think ill go for the veedub.
ive had the mk 5 golf near 3 years and its been flawless.
just thought the bmw would be a little different but then again the scirroco IS pretty different also (for a vw)

Had a VW Scirroco1.8i GT Coupe years ago & have fond memories. Very solid built car with a sporty sitting position, kinda like a deckchair, with your ass just about level with your ankles & your knees directly below the wheel. Watch the headroom though, if you're over 6 feet forget it. That's if the spec hasn't changed.
Utter flying machine but the sacrifice for that is it'll pass anything except for a petrol station.

Both cars are German so you know they're both good & I'm sure we're all aware of the the beamers long running reputation for quality, but I think the VW wins the vote from me.

still a very well built car snaggle and nowadays (not sayin your old lol)
will do over 50 to the gallon. thats the 170 bhp 2L diesel. not quick 0-60 around 9 sec. but good torque.
thats why i like the beemer. 178 bhp 2 L diesel but a very quick 7.5 sec 0-60. quick acc AND loadsa torque.
the beemer has alotta power and great handling, the vw has a lotta erm...handling lol
im coming from a past off motorbikes and i do love alot off power mate.:jiggy:

That's a toughie. If performance has a hand then with a bike background acceleration does become a considerable factor. Ideal scenario would be if the dealer could lend you each car for a few days trial. Maybe worth asking.

The one car I've driven that accelerates like a bike is the Mitsi Evo. OMFG, couldn't go quicker if you teleported. I'm a pretty confident driver who covers around 25k miles a year but I'm telling you - that car scared the crap outta me. It was fun though, in a bungee jumping kinda way.

I have the Scirocco 2.0 tdi, and it IS a good car, handles great, nice drivng position etc... But I change my car in the summer and I was looking at any BMW with the 2 litre diesel engine - it seems a corker for diesel and low company car tax to boot.

My votes for the Beemer.

VW Sirocco, especially in White, is everything everyone else has said, and has style..

my vote? VW in this case..

Of those two I'd go for the VW every time - the BMW 1-Series is very expensive for what you get IMHO. (Mind you, I don't drive that sort of car, I have a Saab Convertible modified by a Swedish tuning company to 270bhp/370Nm - now that really does have acceleration ;) )
