Car choice!. bmw 1 series coupe or vw scirocco?

Update!
I forgot all about this thread lol
In the end after alot of thought and test driving I got a BMW 120d m-sport coupe in alpine white.
The rear wheel drive swung it for me, the handling is just unreal!
Has all the m sport extras and upgraded stereo.
Debadged to keep the rear end clean.
As it's brand new I will have to wait a while before I go for the remap (will bring it up to 220-230 ;) ) angel eyes may be done soon but it is pricey. A light tint will be done also in a couple off weeks. Overall I'm over the moon with the choice I made and it still puts a smile on my face everytime I jump in it!

I like both BMW and VW but don't like the image of either, same with Audi. I have got a Nissan Stagea, basically it is a skyline estate, 4WD with attessa (g force meter that varies power between back to 50/50 front/rear as needed,) looks like a big volvo sort of but... uprated suspension and antiroll bars, uprated brakes, larger intercooler, decat, custom exhaust etc. running about 270bhp at the moment and sometime will get it up to about 320bhp. I love it, no one knows what it is, cops don't look at it and I can get a 6 ft fridge freezer in the back if I needed to. Only bummer is fuel consumption.

ha ha! im not a fair weather biker but i do have a little sense lol. taking my bike out in minus degree's just aint cool...its frickin stupid! my hands would numb up in 5 minutes and wouldnt be able to clutch or brake (no matter what gloves). thats not fair weather....thats SENSIBLE lol. i want to be alive when the kick comes out lol

And I wouldn't ride a bike with ice on the roads, because that would be foolish. Maybe, you haven't noticed the temperatures are also above 0 through winter in the U.K. Indeed they are at the moment and look good for the week according to the met office, and it's January. So you'll be out on the bike this week with temperatures in co.down tomorrow being 8 degrees and rising this week :good: . Or are you going to wait for the fair weather biker summer? ;) :skywalker:

Not to mention, if you get yourself a two wheel BMW, it may well have heated handlebars. :bounce2:

emm maybe!! depends if its a descent june. if it piss'es down then theres no way i will be out ryding like those other tits lol. i have an option he he! theres no hero awards for freezing your tits off...hell if the weathers bad...id hardly WALK in the cold/rain. i aint no hardcore biker...but i do like to ride em. tbh? yeah i think i am a fair weather rider. i see those peeps on sundays in the pishing freezing rain and i just have to shake my head lol

tbh i really love bikes. i love them for 1 thing...speed. i drive a car day in day out. but riding a fast bike is unreal (only peeps who ride them no) but when it gets to be painful... ie cold wet and miserable...that takes the fun out of it. its nice to have a nice car and then when the weather permits....take out a fast bike. im no hardcore biker nor am i a hardcore car enthusiast. i like both and im glad i can have both...an R1 will spice up this summer if funds permit...and its looking that way ;)

Bit of an old post resurrection, but you made the right choice. Mate of mine has the Scirroco, and his previous car was the BMW 1 series. The BMW is better built, better finished, and better paint coating. Its just a better made car..

If its purely down to looks the scirocco wins hands down. Some of the m versions of the BMW look really nice, esp the 3 door 'M'. Otherwise, it just looks average. Engines, reliability, build are similar between the two I would say.

On the other hand, the VW is lovely even the base model. I bet in ten years the new scirroco will still be desirable, the BMW 1 wont.If u said it was between a 123d and a scirroco then it would be a really close one for me, but u said looks alone so there u have it, vw...

its not a standard 120d...standard they dont look anything special. i went for the m-sport with full m bodykit, debadged. its been remapped now to 230 roughly the same as the 123d. i had a day with both the vw and the beemer....theres a massive difference in the handling. the vw didnt take to kindly to the 180 only going to the front. had alot of oversteer for my liking. the beemers weight ratio and rwd made the difference for me. tis a nutter with the traction fully off though lol. i will post a pic of her tomorrow when she's all cleaned up.

It's a pitty...
England had such a nice car... the Rover 75.
For myself i drove a Rover 75 2.5 V6 for three years. It was one of the best cars of my life yet. I miss this car very much.
Thankfully my father still owns a MG ZT 190. It now has around 200.000kilometres on the clock.

I for myself don't like the BMW's that much. If a german car - go with Mercedes ;-)

And VW... I hate my VW Polo...
