Disclaimer (just in case...): All kit & liquids have been paid for and I'll endeavor to give in-depth reviews of both PV's!

Background
Being a 20-30 a day Malboro Red (and Bright Leaf) smoker for over 10 years who actually enjoys smoking, including cigars. I initially stayed with my trusty death sticks whilst two good friends swapped to vaping but was quickly intrigued when throat hits were mentioned. So I invested in an iCig starter kit with PCC, charger, 25 pre-filled carts. I also bought some 24mg Malboro juice from amazon to have an old faithful option nearby.

The iCig i200 Black
Initially wanting this primarily because of its size and likeness to an analog but with a blue LED at the end, oh and it came in black. It was a cute little novelty gadget is the review in a nutshell, here's why:
Even trying different ways of drawing almost always ended up with juice on my lips, which nearly put me off vaping altogether!
Charge did not hold for very long due to small size
PCC charge display screen broke within 3 days of arrival, very poor quality overall in this regard as the battery did not properly thread into the charge unit
Atomizers supplied with black versions of the iCig are faulty, confirmed by both my friends who had already thrown their iCigs away, all 3 of us had 2x black atty's and all 6 did not work properly. I ordered a spare atty and when it arrived it was a white version, this produced alot more vapor and was much better.
Quick drying filler, again due to its size the filler dried up very quickly. The bumpf states that each cart should last the equivilant of 10 analogs, no matter how I tried I could not make one cart last that long and still have a satisfying vaping experience

Overall a very poor experience with the iCig, a product that "has been specifically designed for UK smokers"

A week of being back on analogs and I decided to try again and on recommendation from both my friends, ordered a Janty Ego XL kit from iVapor. I have stuck with this so far, although due to stress levels at work I had been on 10 a day analogs and vaping at home.

The Janty Ego/XL
First off for £55 you get a lot of bang for your buck!
1x USB 650mAh manual battery
1x XL 900mAh manual battery
2x eGo/Dura standard Atomiser
1x Ego XL atomiser
1x atomizer cover cone
1x USB fast charger
1x USB 1.5m cable
1x carry pouch
2x Janty eGo Switch Protector
5x prefilled RY4 high cartridges
1x RY4 10ml liquid

I also ordered a pack of 5 empty XL cartridges

As soon as I opened the box I knew that this wasn't for 1 a day malboro light smokers, this was a big boys toy indeed. I dutifully filled a couple of my empty carts with my malboro eliquid and made sure both batteries were fully charged. I fitted the standard size atty/cart to the USB passthrough battery and had a nice couple of puffs with a tremendous amount of vapor and a pleasant taste in my mouth from the standard RY4 juice which reminded me of my dads old pipe tobacco slightly, so I decided to get a full evenings worth of the standard cart with not a single bit of liquid on my lips and no foul taste from burning.

Thoroughly impressed I took both along to work with me the next day to see wether the XL would be the better option for work or wether I could get by happily with the standards. I quickly found that when I had the oppurtunity for a puff, I dried out the top end of the filler very quickly and started to get a burning taste with both the RY4 and Malboro liquids. This was when I started browsing youtube and forums such as UKV!!! and found out about dripping, i tried it a few times with removing the filler from the cart and taking the cart off to drip each time. This quickly ended up with liquid on the lips as i discovered a little chamber in the top of the cart, it has now become part of the routine to dab it out with a bit of tissue every few hours and all is good!

I have found that with the amount I vape that dripping is definatly for me, due to good flavour and it gives me something fiddly to do every couple of hours to clean off the atty connections with the battery and the empty cart. I have now got a sexy metal drip tip on its way to me in the post along with a few new juices! Since trying cherry, double mint and strawberry I have hardly touched the malboro liquid, I still carry it around with me as it's 24mg as opposed to 18mg which I vape away quite happily on normally.

I am now awaiting news on the Janty Tesla Filter as I saw the prototype in action earlier and literally cannot wait for it to come out (If it does!!?!). I will be investing in one as soon as it is released that's for sure. I am also looking at a boxmod for use whilst driving, because drip-driving may be considered a distraction :p

I hope that my little story will help people who are looking at vaping and have considered the budget offer as I did first of all.

Are you my double? Its just that is identical to my story, I had the juice spitting, fast drying icig. and i went back to the rollies and then guess what? I got the ego and never turned back. Since then iv been free of the evil weed for nearly 2 months. I now own the mega batts for the eGo and some mods (SB, GDPT, GDbox mod v2) and it triggered something inside me that has taken over.

These pv's are the best thing that could ever have happened to me and the only regret is that everyone cant see the light and i couldn't rescue those who have been taken away sooner. I lost my grandad this time a few years back, it was the hardest day of my life at that point in time and these things could have saved his life. Im not usualy one to preach but with the time of year it is a clear memory of what analogues did to him and could have done to me.

Keep at it mate, and even if you get tired of it explain to everyone who asks.

Jez

Well quite possibly, I am currently a bar manager in sunny welsh Wales, spreading darkness and despondancy upon Gwent ;) Sadly I work for a pub co. that has dissallowed use of PV's to customers, strictly due to the hassle it would cause the front line troops like m'sen, which is fair enough I suppose, although I would take great pleasure in ejecting people who decided that they can smoke in the pub if they saw someone vaping away. Me walking around back of house puffing away has trigged some interesting conversations and a lot of interest with the regulars, I sit and vape in the mornings before the lunch time madness and explain the inner workings and whatnot to the old boys who come in for a couple of jars while their wives are off shopping lol.

I don't mind educating people, especially those who know me and how much I smoked before and I'm happy to educate the feckers until my lungs give out, which now, will hopefully be a spell longer!

Sorry to hear about your grandfather, I'm currently trying to convert my parents. Took my ego with double mint tornado juice for a visit to the old girl as she smokes menthols and she's slightly taken to it but It'll take a lot of doing for her to give up. My old man is a proper old boy, laughs every time he sees me with it, he smokes a pipe during the day and roll-ups at night. He'll laugh on the other side of his face when I present him with an e-pipe for his birthday, filled with his favourite tobacco flavour!

HA yeah boi go for it. Im a Welshman myself, watch out they love the :sheep2:jokes. Saying that I think they just like hitting me with em ;). Good luck with your rents man. Once you get a nic strength and a flav sorted I think the PV will take any cigarette on.

I have to agree with you Jezarel it's all about finding the strength and flavour (can take a while), but once sorted the PV's will easily take on any cigarette and beat it hands down. Also just trying to go through the flavours will take ages where as i found cigarettes all tasted very similar.

Those that rubbish my vaping at the pub and who have tried it like some of the flavours but see it as a short term novelty item, i think thats because i don't usually vape tobbacco flavours so i think they can't identify it as being the same as a cigarette.
