Look nicotine studies are ambivalent. One study shows test tube tumor markers when incubated with Nicotine, one says tumors do grow with nic another (more recents sayss they don't. Researcher bias? We do know that Nicotine can Promote the growth of Pancreatic tumors and can lessen some breast cancer growth rates and increase others. All I know is I couldn't quit analogues. ENDS make me feel better and that is where it's at.

Stop Smoking- alternatives to analogues

Giving up smoking is the easiest thing in the world. I know because I've done it thousands of times.

I have to be honest, the only reason I gave up on analogs was I just couldnt afford £6.50 a day

I dont know what affect nicotine has on my body (I guess I will find out one day)

There are many studies out there, but trying to sort out the chaff from the wheat is nigh impossible, but I did read an article about smoking and the causes of death, but I think the jury is still out (smoking has been around a bit longer than most people think)

I have attached a Pdf file, I dont know if it will get attached to this thread, I thought it msade interesting reading (but it is 20 pages long (I guess you could save it and read it at liesure) IF it does attach, I'd like to read what others thoughts are

Now the reason I came in here, is vaping as addictive as smoking ? (just without the nasties that are in analogs )

How can you say that ("life is too short") its the longest thing any of us are going to do, yes we are all going to die of something, its just a bit of a lottery which way though, some have a choice,

right i know this is about nicotine. but i think we need to look at the bigger picture. when it comes to people ending up dead because of health problems and cancer. start looking at this. nicotine can be bad and good just like many things can. for a start take a look at your food and whats being put in that. take a look at polution from traffic and powerplants, mobile phones can cause brain tumors. the water we drink has been through the human body around 7 times before we drink it and who knows where else. medication if we are ill has side effects. lifestyles and the job roles we have also has influences in our health, the list go's on and on and on. one second they say salt is bad for us then they say its good. drinking booze and makeup products has chemicals in it that people absorb through there skin.

at the end of the day its a mirricle we are alive at all between all the stuff that gos into us and around us and all the natural disasters in the world that keep happening. all i can say is life is for living. somtimes you just gotta roll the dice. and as far as impotence gos again take a look at the above and see if any of that can make your one eyed snake drop LMAO.

i dont mean to cause offence by saying this but if we never did anything because of the risks then dam we would be dead already.

Yup, you bought up some good points there, but I would think rather than saying that various diseases are caused by certain things (phone masts causing brain tumours, foods causing cancers) unless some has lived undere a mast for their whole life, there maybe other factors that caused tumours

Anything in excess is bad for you, but some things you need to stay alive, (oxygen you need but that in the end kills you)

People are forever saying "Will cancer ever be cured ?" they have just lumped ALL cancers into one group, there are many kinds of cancer, so really the question should have been
"Will breast cancer ever be cured?"
"Will prostate canvcer be cured ?"
"Will skin cancer be cured?"

As for water going through 7 people before we drink it, you are definately wrong there, fresh water has been around for millions of years, so has gone through more than 7 people (there is no more or no less water, there are just more people drinking the stuff than there was 200 years ago) you need water to stay alive, but you can drink an excessive amount and that will kill you as effectivly as a bullet

(the way you described that, sounds like 6 people peed in a bottle and passed it down the line to end up with number 7):bulgy-eyes:

Even 'E' additives are all natrual organic things, they are just refined (even the word ORGANIC is misused, anything that grows and rots away is organic, you can grow a spud using chemicals and various ferilizers, its still as organic as a spud that hasnt had any ferilizersor chemicals, they both have the same nutritional value)

Adrenline is adictive, but its something our body needs for flight or fight, but there are adrenaline junkies out there (youtube is full of them)

I had a "scare" in March of this year. I was diagosed with Testicular Cancer and had to have surgery to remove one of "the boys..."!

Checks at the time revealed no secondary Lung or Brain Cancers (as this is how Testicular Cancer usually metastasizes) BUT I have been told that I may need additional surgery to deal with a cist / tumour on the other one.

At the time, I asked the Consultant oncologist who I was attending - if it was IN ANY WAY related to my history of Smoking and he replied "Absolutely Not.." He went on to say that the risk from smoking of me having a stroke or heart attack or other serious respiratory problems was MUCH GREATER than the risk of any Cancer...

I stopped smoking anyway thanks to vaping and have not looked back!

If there is an inherent risk in vaping or using nicotine, then that is a risk I am quite prepared to take because at the end of the day, I am off fags and that has to be a good thing! I must admit that health-wise I have never felt better!

Just another rant by me...

I can't believe people are getting so wound up about this. The point is that there is good scientific evidence that nicotine inhibits tumour destruction, and therefore the common sense recommendation is to reduce the nicotine concentration in your eLiquid to the lowest level you can tolerate. If you don't want to then don't. The fact is we need to find all possible health risks of eCigarettes and provide appropriate recommendations.

i dont think cancer will ever be cured, i think that there maybe advancements in treating it but i dont think it will ever be cured. but as far as im aware nicotine dont even cause cancer and its still yet to be proven that nicotine creates a more favourable environment for cancer to develop, i once saw a documentry on how nicotine can so called cause cancer and they used lab rats. but here is the best bit the lab rat was in a tank being forced to breathe cigerette smoke and what they seem to forget at the time was that even though there was all the other chemicals in the cig that they didnt list or consider they also didnt state that nicotine combusts way before its own boiling point rendering it even less likley to cause cancers. they was saying about how it can cause plaqe in the veins and that if the plaqe burst it could cause blockage but again they used real cigs. so that again makes me think its not been conducted properly. im not going to worry about nicotine and cancer until they can prove it can contribute to cancer. now nicotine and bloodpresure that has been proven to contribute but again so do many other things. like how they tell us to plenty fruit and veg and then in the next sentence they tell us that eating those can damage our teeth quicker because of high acidity. either way we cant win. where there is good there is bad and where there light there is darkness and where there is life there will be death. the way i see it we live longer on an average than we did a few hundred years ago so thats a bonus in itself to me. all we can do is try to live the best we can with the things we know not the things we dont. its a good debate but for now that is all it is "a debate" LOL.

dont quit quiting, keep on vaping, lol

Joe Jackson makes some interesting observations. he says

Quote

I believe smoking bans are doing great damage, and not only economic damage. They promote intolerance, social tension and a ‘stool pigeon’ culture. They ostracise a large and law-abiding segment of the population. They set a worrying precedent for all kinds of other social engineering. And they bring Nanny into Nightlife: the last place she belongs.
The intolerence can be seen in the comments section of any smoking related story. I was appalled by some of the comments made on an Australian plain packaging for tobacco thread. Dick Puddlecote has a collection and Frank Davis has written about social intolerence towards the elderly and others.

Although this was written only a couple of years ago, the precedents are swiftly being used with regard to alcohol and obecity. Indeed Vincent-Riccardo di Pierri, in the book Rampant Anti-smoking, gives some of the background to both the intolerence and how the precedents were set in what he calls the Godber blueprint.

The 'science' of SHS has been used and abused to justify this intolerance. Dr Siegel has higlighted some of the more obvious examples of Science by Press release. Recently he has discussed the 'heart attack miracles'. I personally gave up with these studies as they were clearly cherry picking from the start. The Helena study showed a 60% reduction in heart attacks when it first came out. This was revised to 40% and now it seems it has had further revision. The fact that dubious science was believed and used to justify draconian action is atrocious. The fact that people have been manipulated in this way is appalling. That science has been misused undermines the foundations of science. The end does not justify the means (inho).

Joe Jackson's piece is well worth a read.

the wise scientist aint gonna upset those who provide his funding.. he who pays the piper calls the tune.. a scientist whether he likes it or not has to go along with this.. a bias creeps into his finding it has too.. global warming is the best example of this and why you never see David Bellamy on the TV any more..

You realise that Bellamy stopped making tv shows a full 10 years before he became a climate change crank, right? Must be some kind of conspiracy.

i read he was pushed out for not taking the right line.. his work just dried up so speak.. the vesion of the story i got was he didnt stop he was pushed out.. they stopped giving him work.. maybe this took some time before be became the "crank" i know at one time he was very popular..

but who knows what the real truth is.. i must admit to taking the junk science view of the global warming stuff.. so perhaps i am biased in my choice of "truth".. i am pretty sure money talks though.. he he
