I'm one of those people who vape for the fact it is saving my health, and I enjoy it more!
My two cents:
The media nowadays are all for shock tactics, and tend to distort peoples words into horrific mangled phrases compared to their origional meanings. The doctor in question may not have even made this allogation, he could have said "This person died from a fatal lung disease and all we know about the patient is that he loved 'vaping' with an electronic cigarette."
When the media interview you, you tend to sign a piece of paper saying they can use ALL OR PART of your statement. If however, they can do some scientific experimentation on the deceased, and prove that the e-liquids we know and love are causing horrific damage to our health, more so than smoking 20-a-day then I will believe them.
E-Cigarettes Claim:
- None of the harmful components found in traditional "analogue" cigarettes
E-Cigarettes DO NOT Claim:
- They are 100% good for you, and have no adverse affects

One thing is for sure....if the government don't ban it....they'll sure as heck find some way to tax it

No doubt they will. Come on, each person that swaps from analogues to e-cigs loses them a couple of hundred pounds if you think about it!

Well, approximately 77% of the price of a packet of 20 goes into the government's pocket as tax., which on an average price of £6.50 a pack is almost exactly a fiver a pack in tax! An average 20 a day smoker is giving a fiver a day to the government, which is £1825 a year. I dont know how many smokers there are in the UK, but probably close to 10 million....so thats over 18 BILLION quid a year in tax. If I live for say another 30 years then thats nearly £55,000 in cigarette tax that the government is gonna miss out on from me now that I've switched to vaping...ha ha, thats made my day thinking about that

ASH reckoned last year that around 9% of smokers have used ecigs and 3% of them still do. The UK population is around 62,000,000, 21% of those are smokers and 3% of them is around 400,000 ecig users. If the gov is losing say £3 per day from each of those that would be a daily loss of £1,200,000 or £438m per year.

£438m per year ? But that's half a Tomahawk Missile Kate. We need much more than that to throw at Libya because we must help the people overcome their Socialist, sorry, terrorist Leader, who it appears has spent all their oil money on free education, free health service, and to increase the average life expectancy to the present 78 years. Apart from that he irrigated the desert and made it green so the country was self sufficient. Unfortunately he also deposited over $53 Billion in British banks which went bust, got bought by Our Government and he had the cheek to ask for it back. He also has employed Libyans and kicked out the Western Companies who want his massive underground water making plant and told them he was going to sell Oil in Euros, not Dollars. We can't have that !!
After all, their's no money left.

ECCA reckon the UK market is worth £5m and there are 200,000 vapers (which is an average annual spend of £25.)
Kate reckons there are 400,000 vapers which gives an annual spend of £12.50
It sounded like ECCA had spoken to TW so assume their figures are sensible.
There's a lot of bollox flying around - who's they are is uncertain

Well finally waded through this thread. All I can say is everything in life is a risk!
One death (unproven) in my eyes is neither here nor there (other than to the family, so no disrespect to them) in the scheme of things. People are not dropping dead even after longer and what appears heavier vaping than this one poor soul.
Someone choking to death on a pea or being run over, after looking both ways on a zebra crossing, by a frozen turd dropped by a jumbo jet, is not what I base my risk assessments on.

My figure is a miscalculation of survey results from ASH (who usually are full of bollocks). - http://www.uknscc.or...n_dockrell.html
They say that in 2010 9% of smokers in the UK had tried ecigs and 3% still use them; that equals around 312,000.
I don't know how ECCA came up with their estimates.

I must admit to not knowing a lot about Gaddafi, but if all this is true, it would hardly be surprising although mainstream media would never tell you.
I like your thinking.
