Hi, just wondering if anyone can help with a few things i have rattling around in my brain, if you could i'd be really grateful!!
I've been vaping for a few weeks now and I love it. Im a 32 year old woman and have been smoking 15 a day (often more) for the last 15yrs. I bought an icig and a bottle of 36mg mayfair flavoured juice from eliquid4u, and have been chugging on it like mad since the day it arrived here. No side effects at all except my mouth sometimes feels a bit greasy, like I've just eaten chip shop or something. I dont get gobfuls of liquid, just like a bit of a feeling later on in the day.
Im wondering though, although the nasty taste and dirty teeth feeling is gone already, and I cant hear my own breathing at night anymore, how long before you started to notice a significant difference in how you felt health wise? Im dying to start running again, I stopped when i was about 21 and had a few months ill and incapable, and with the smoking i found it really hard to do afterwards and never got back into it.... I feel clearer in my chest/lungs but I dont know if thats psychological or not! Its only been a few weeks. I kind of wanted to hang back til my lungs are happier because last time i tried running the motivation just wasnt there when i felt like my chest was going to explode after 3 minutes in the park. I know its different for everyone but how long did it take you?
My other question to you is.... I've realised since joining this forum that the strength of my juice is high (36mg). Is a puff on this higher than a puff on a regular cig (I was smoking royals before), and is it normal to smoke this more than i would normal cigarettes? Its literally in my mouth half the day, which is a pain because I work from home and I always smoked outside before! I dont know what strength i should be using, its a 30ml bottle and I'm not even an eighth of the way through it yet. I guess I'm just wondering if my nicotine intake is a lot higher now than it used to be.
I have a lot of other questions about the differences between VC and (I forgot what the alternative is now lol, its late and im tired), but will post them in the appropriate forums.
Any input gladly received!
Thanks guys
Kelly

You are doing great,,,,,don't worry about owt atm,,,,,just keep drinking 'fluids' to ease the dryness caused by vaping.
You may want to lower your nic strength to 34mg of lower if the 'hit' is too much.
Take care

Hi
Health wise I guess it depends on what the health problems are to start with. I believe my chest cleared significantly within a couple of months. I basically had chronic bronchitis (an almost constant string of chest infections) and I'm a similar age to yourself. After switching I was for quite a while coughing up "shite" from the lungs which does eventually stop. I'd started exercising before I stopped smoking and seriously, if you keep at it, it will get better. I believe the body adapts to whatever you throw at it, and if you don't exercise much then suddenly starting again will come as a shock. Accept that you won't immediately be able to do what you did at 21 and set yourself achievable targets. Just whatever you do, don't think "I can only do 3 minutes so there's no point bothering at all". Instead think maybe by next week I'll run for 4 minutes, and then 5 minutes, and so on. I'm sure you can get back into it if you put your mind to it

i never coughed up anything.im not sure why some do and some dont.
My asthma isnt nearly as bad since starting esmoking,i can breathe better and dont wheeze now.i dont hack and cough when i get up nowadays like i used to.i rarely get bad colds anymore.i used to get bad throat infections but havnt had any since starting esmoking.thats the kind of things ive noticed.i just feel generally better all round.im not about to run a marathon tho...esmoking isnt magic.
i suppose effect and timescale depends on the individual.just keep off the fags and get a little exercise, and youll be headed in the right direction.

OK cool thanks, I do get a lot of exercise, I compete with my horses in mounted games competitions (google it before you laugh, lol) which is kind of an extreme sport and I have to keep them fit in between competitions.
What I cant bear is that feeling that my lungs are about to burst so I think I'd rather hang back a little, rather than try to achieve too much in one big hit.

Your lungs will take a little bit of time to heal but you can start jogging and build it up, the lungs are like any mussle they need to be eased back into a normal state. For me i have really noticed it on the mountain bike and i find my legs give out long before my lungs

I stopped smoking in January after 15 years of 20 a day and to be honest I've felt like crap since.
I've had every cold under the sun, stomach upsets, mouth ulcers, constipation, bloating, headaches and theres been times when I've thought that I might as well start smoking again.
On the other hand, I'm a realist. I don't believe that quitting smoking is going to make me suddenly healthy (lets face it, theres more NHS propaganda on smoking cessation than the entirety of Hitlers term in government), and I know for a fact that if your body is getting something for 15 years its going to take a long time to sort out its equilibrium after its taken away. Nicotine is a proven laxative for a start, its an appetite suppressor, so you eat more and go less.
Another crock of shit, its that you'll suddenlly have more energy. I'm knackered all the time!
Everyones different but I'm still suffering now. In the long term though I know its better for me, even my bank account thinks so. I've heard that it can take almost a year for your body to sort itself out its a working properly routine again.
So keep up the good work.

Well it's nearly 15 months for me and I also feel considerably worse than before I switched
. I had a few very stressful years prior to this so I guess I could be feeling the physical knock-on effects from this but, by God, I feel rough.
At first my sleep was unchanged...I've always slept odd hours but very deeply, now I have huge trouble falling asleep and staying asleep so I feel knackered all the time. I have also developed aching joints and a general feeling of creakiness which I thought would decrease with warmer weather and more outdoor activity...sadly not
.
Initially I had some skin reactions to PG but that disappeared over time...I have had quite a few more cold sores 'though, something I haven't had often over the previous years. I thought about switching to VG but that plays havoc with my digestion in any significant quantity so that's not an option, vaping has already increased the wind quotient quite a bit
.
Seriously, I do wonder at times whether living longer is worth it for spending the rest of my life feeling 92

Dont think i am that much healthier but i feel better for not smoking! my joints dont hurt like they did when i smoked this may be down many things.
At first i got headaches from to high nicotine content now happy on 16mg also i only using a small amount of flavour or unflavoured this stops my mouth playing up.
I have a lot less migraines since i stoped smoking down by 90% plus.
Could i now run a mile NO.
Can i now walk a mile YES.

Am I the 'odd one out' here?....
I smoked to Olympic standard for 38 years, until discovering vaping 4 weeks ago.
I haven't smoked an analogue since, and feel great!
My smokers cough was so bad that I couldn't even lay on my back in bed, but within 24 hours my breathing was as clear as a bell.
Don't believe all the crap we are fed about 'giving up' the fags..... they (The drug companies and Tobacco companies) want you to feel bad in order to keep their claws in you!!!
I prepared myself to feel ill when I became a non-smoker, but it didn't happen.

Yes it feels good, but I note we were all very heavy smokers, over long periods of time. Don't know if that has something to do with it? I doubt if you had have been smoking for a couple of years or lightly the difference would be so marked? I mean growing older you naturally deteriorate, so possibly no marked improvement followed by natural deterioration of time could be construed as switching from the fags made your health worse? Maybe, just a guess.

I'm 60, coming upto 61, got myself an eGo-T, and a shedload of flavours, (I did get an Njoy, but it didnt do it for me, the wife uses it now)
I guess I had been smoking since I was about 12, not exactly sure WHEN , but I know WHERE I started
Cant be all bad smoking though, I passed 'P' company, twice
I cough up the usual stuff, but not often, I can do a decent work out in the gym now, I can use the go no where bike for over an hour, I wouldnt even think of using it before
I run to the gym now and back, so I not only save money not buying fags, but now save money on diesel
I was fairly fit before I got my ecigarette anyway, but did have a raspy chest, I had to go for a blood test, I dont know if that will show any improvement in anything though
I guess its up to the indiviual on how they were when they smoked, only reason I took up an ecigarette was the cost of the real fags, cant afford £6.50 a day, now, anyway, all my fag taxes have put me well in credit with NHS now

Ditto, 20 a day 30 year smoker, only side effect was a dry tickly cough on the first night, been fine ever since.
I can even take large gulps of fesh air now which i couldn't do before and any breathlessness that i used to get from mild forms of excercise has gone, even though I'm a 'chain vaper' I now class myself as a non smoker and feel tons better or it.
there's also a vast difference in my tastebuds, for years i thought they don't make things like they used to when all the time it was the fags, now i taste certain things and it takes me right back to my childhood.
The only other side effect is the odd sneeze when my atty is running low when i get a burnt vaper rush up my nose.

I classed myself as a 'heavy' smoker on 20-30 a day. I didn't feel ill, but within a matter of days of vaping, I did see a big improvement in my energy levels. Seems what I'd put down to a rubbish rota pattern was in fact down to the ciggies!
When I 'relapsed' I lost that energy pretty quickly and soon toughened my resolve for vaping. Was poor battery life that put me off with the more basic kits, but a screwdriver got me back on the vaping train. Now in seventh heaven with batteries that last all day and cheap to replace.
