Hello,

I have notice after many trials that I do not react well to tobacco concentrates. Whenever I have a few puffs on even a lightly concentrated (1drop for 5ml) tobacco flavored e-liquid I start having heartburns and my stomach tightens...
Has anyone experienced similar symptoms? With tobacco concentrates or other flavours, I am thinking of caramel for example?

Has anyone got an idea of what this could be caused from? Any ingredients known to cause issues in tobacco concentrates that I should eventually avoid in other concentrates?

Thank you very much for your help,

Christophe

Never had any reactions to tobacco flavours, but they can be complicated blend of ingredients.

A few things they could contain include tobacco absolute (extraction from natural tobacco leaf), guaicol, vanillin, ethyl vanillin, ethyl maltol, acetyl pyrazine.. the list goes on. This link to Perfumers Apprentice shows some of the things used to create tobacco flavours - http://shop.perfumer...cco-blends.aspx

Thanks very much for the link, I'll look into it but it's going to be complicated as anything could trigger the issue as I do not has any allergy or so.
I do have IBS so I'll try to find ingredients in your list and find out if they could influence on the condition.

Cheers

No probs. The few I named were just some examples from a long list of things that could potentially be in a tobacco flavouring though, the PA site lists rather more, and I'm sure that isn't complete. One tobacco flavour might be completely different from another in what it contains.

Stomach upsets could be caused by too much nicotine. They can also be associated with stopping smoking I think. Is it definitely only certain flavours that cause you problems?

Thanks for the tip but i do not think the nicotine content is the issue as I even tested without nicotine at all, just the flavour with PG. With other flavours I do not encounter the problem.
Concerning the tobacco withdrawal that is not it either as I was only smoking 1 or 2 a day for a while.

Even when I stopped smoking completely from 7 a day I did not have any withdrawal symptoms at all as they are purely psychological... you just want them to be there so you have an excuse to go back to smoking... it's largely proven that there is no physical withdrawal from nicotine or it's only very light (1% physical generally located in the stomach and 99% psychological).

I have the feeling that ONLY tobacco flavours trigger that stomach burns... did not happen with sweet flavours at all... don't understand :bulgy-eyes:

Just a thought:

Would the tobacco flavours have been PG and the sweet flavours VG?

I only ask as some are allergic to PG. Posted Image

Hi Christophe,

I am smoking electronic cigarettes from past few months and I basically use the tobacco flavor, but I have never suffered from any issues. From my experience the tobacco flavor e cigarette is one of the best flavors that provide you with the same sensation, throat hit and taste like the real one. I think you suffered due to other reasons and still it's unbelievable that electronic cigarette can cause any adverse effects.

£70 for what looks like a DSE103 called "Relief"?

Or is it £70 for relief and a free ecig for afterwards? Either way I think I'll pass thanks...

Christophe,

You'll probably not find the actual cause, it could be anything in the juice. Doubtful it'd actually be tobacco though, otherwise I'd have thought you'd have had the problem as a smoker. Are these Chinese or western juices causing the problem? Western ones tend to be artificially flavoured, f'arts and the like whereas Chinese ones are generally flavoured with tobacco absolutes and extracts, although admittedly they do have other ingredients too.

Edit: Sorry, just reread your initial post, maybe you're having a bad reaction to tobacco farts? Have you tried Hangsen or Dekang tobacco juices?

Late to this thread but just stumbled across it looking to see if anyone got heartburn from caramel flavours. New to vaping (one week) have tried about 6 flavours so far and today after 'caramel latte' have been getting slight heartburn, none of the others did that: tobacco, vanilla, blueberry, irish coffee, chocolate. All of those are PG so guessing it's some caramel flavouring that's doing it in that particular brand. I assume any caramel one even if a different brand is likely to do the same so I may have to avoid that in future.

Pixie Juice Menu: Signature juice - Mint Choc Chip Ice Cream. Others: Blackcurrant Ice. Double Mint, Vanilla Ice Cream. Still tweaking more.
Berry Chewits Berry Chewits is no more thanks to the concentrate recipe being changed by the manufacturers who also didn't indicate this on their website. Thanks for that, not!

My favorite pre-mixed juices: Grizwalds Strawberry Ice Cream. Copper Creek Apricot Danish. Kentucky Vanilla Blend. Kentucky No 7
