I highly doubt this guys, there's no premise for such a regulation. I think 'vaping's' biggest enemy is the fact that it visually, it closely resembles smoking and this is why there's such an outburst of popularity.

We should get rid of all that vapour. There's really no need for it. Think of all the problems it would solve

It all comes down to the dinero. The UK government rake in one third of their tax revenue from the sale of fags alone so have to put the stranglehold on any potential threats. With the rising popularity of e-smoking it was always a "when" thing & never an "if".
Nicotine, in any form, is derived from the tobacco leaf, there's no getting round that unfortunately, however their current directive indicates that e-cigs lie outwith the tobacco classification as it has to be lit or burned before it's deemed a tobacco product. That was our loophole in which we resided for so long, but they just have to tweak a line or two to deliver their kiss of death - & they will.

Forecast 2008/09 - tobacco duties are £8.2bn out of £545bn(1.5%)

According to ECCA, UK ecig market is around £5m pa - it would cost more than this to set up a duty collection system for ecigs. I'm afraid(or happy) that, from HM Treasury's point of view, we are irrelevant

In 5 years time we will be saying to new vapers "you could once get 10ml for £5 back when I started" wow, they'll say... lol.
