just read this
CE MARKING - Home
The CE marking (an acronym for the French "Conformite Europeenne") certifies that a product has met EU health, safety, and environmental requirements, which ensure consumer safety. Manufacturers in the European Union (EU) and abroad must meet CE marking requirements where applicable in order to market their products in Europe. For a list of countries that require the CE marking, see: CE Marking Countries. A manufacturer who has gone through the conformity assessment process, may affix the CE marking to the product. With the CE marking, the product may be marketed throughout the EU. CE marking now provides product access to 27 countries with a population of nearly 500 million.
Unfortunately, there is no comprehensive list of the products that require a CE marking. Therefore, it is the manufacturer's responsibility to determine if a product requires a CE marking. The "New Approach Directives" are documents that contain the legislation issued by the European Commission on the requirements that need to be met and procedures that must be followed in order for a particular product to be CE marked for sales in the EU.
If you are unfamiliar with the CE Marking process, we suggest that you read through the <A href="http://www.export.gov/cemark/eg_main_017268.asp" target=_top>Program Overview and call or email the U.S. Government contacts if you have any questions.

It looks as though Innovapor can self-certify, but they'll need to read up on which European standards need to be followed for their products. More here: http://www.export.go...main_017287.asp
I noticed that Boge show the CE mark on their stuff, and have often wondered whether they actually do conform, or just simply print it on the box

Is this any help to you? http://ukvapers.com/...h__1#entry53661
As it is likely to be a benign device I would think it would be exempt from needing CE certification. But it might need a letter from the manufacturer to confirm that. Sounds like your customs are being a bit zealous though...

The link DaveK posted is quite interesting.
I looked at the CE mark a while ago.
This bit is the problem.
The CE marking directives that apply to the product.
Problem is not one directive applies to a vapng unit so you can't give one the CE mark.
And it's very true the CE mark on most of the stuff imported stands for China export

EN 60335-2-29:2004/A2:2010: Household and similar electrical appliances - Safety --
Part 2-29: Particular requirements for battery chargers.
Directive 2005/20/EC: Packaging and packaging waste.
Directive 2002/95/EC: RoHS.
This is quite interesting mate.
As it sort of proves you can't get the CE mark for mods unless they include a charger and the packaging and waste is compliant.
The RoHS is a different kettle of fish as most modders will buy RoHS parts as standard.
Do you know what product the CE mark is for as it can only be for one product at a time.
I only ask as I have tried my ass off to find a category to fit in to.
And RoHS alone will not do it.

This is as far as I got.
1.1. What is the legal base of the RoHS Directive
The RoHS Directive is based on Article 95 of the Treaty. The purpose of this Directive
is to approximate the laws of the Member States on restrictions of the use of hazardous
substances in electrical and electronic equipment, and to contribute to the protection of
human health and the environmentally sound recovery and disposal of waste electrical
and electronic equipment.
Which as my trading standards guy put in simplistic terms, lol
RoHS is covered as you use RoHS compliant components and you need to prove each component is RoHS.
This is the easy part as you can download the RoHS compliance from the electronics component supplier.

Cheers mate.
I'm not taking the P I am serious on how to achieve the CE mark.
But from the PDF it looks like.
The charger is CE marked, and it is a trustfire one.
I assume they have the CE certificate from trustfire or have self certificated it as compliant.
The packaging is waste compliant IE it can be safely recycled.
And the components are RoHS.
But if you were to take the packaging and the charger away you are left with the mod.
And this is my problem, lol
The components are RoHS but this alone won't get me a CE mark on a vaping unit as no directive applies.
Sorry Scott for all the questions I would love if you could put me in direct contact.
