Hmm, I got back to my flat on a Friday night, and was chatting to my flatmate while having some beers and vaping, and he said something along the lines of: "I can smell it, and if I can smell it I'm inhaling your nicotine. Please stop."

What should I say the next time this happens?

Cheers.

Ask him if smelling a cup of coffee being made means he's inhaling nicotine - its the same thing really. (insert fruit/beverage e-juice flavour you might use instead of coffee)
Indeed ask him if he plans to stop eating tomatoes and potatoes as they contain nicotine.
The vapour contains nothing that is harmful to anybody except those with allergies to PG/VG/PEG and any of the chemicals present in the flavourings.
I am me, nobody else. . .

Show him the Tissue Test where someone exhales after inhaling cigarrette smoke into a tissue and leaves it stained - then you demonstrate with your e-cig - nice clean, if a little damp, tissue.

I am going to play devils advocate here and ask all the above posters this,

If you had a 1 week old baby in the same room would you still vape,i know i certainly wouldnt and dont,

I treat my pv as i would a cig

I vape as i would smoke, there is no proof what so ever that second hand vape is safe,

I certainly would'nt like a drug addict shooting up in the same room as me even though it is completely safe for me

I am not trying to start arguments or the like, just opening up a little debate

Here we go...the baby factor!! :hissyfit2:

Let's face it, no one would deliberately blow anything onto a 1 week old baby....what's your point? That 1 week old babies are the litmus test of everything we do? If you're going to play devil's advocate, stick to the scenario that was originally posed....should you take any notice of someone who claims he is "breathing in your nicotine" as you vape? Or...should we behave as respectfully towards others as we would like to be treated, which might involve checking or asking permission at times before we vape? Please don't bring any more babies into the equation...:sinister:

Me personally i had enough with people complaining about me smoking if it be indoors in the privacy of my own home or out doors. Now that i vape i take a different approach to what people might say or think at that is the 2 finger approach yea it may be wrong but there is no way that i would let some one that has a stick up there ass tell me not to vape indoors or outdoors.

And bringing a 1 week old baby into it is rather pointless if you ask me as they are exposed to toxics as soon as they leave the hospital are they not? Car fumes being one of them. But to answer it i wouldnt vape around my kid at that age but i have been vaping in my house now since she was 3

Sold/selling all my gear as cant get back into vaping

My point is if you wouldnt do it a (baby)then why should it be acceptable to an adult

That 1 week old babies are the litmus test of everything we do?

No but a bench mark and make you think of your actions

If you're going to play devil's advocate, stick to the scenario that was originally posed....

Respect his/her position and if you didnt smoke in the flat then dont vape, obviously if you didnt smoke in the flat then you shouldnt need to vape

should you take any notice of someone who claims he is "breathing in your nicotine" as you vape?

Yes as you dont know that they arent

Or...should we behave as respectfully towards others as we would like to be treated, which might involve checking or asking permission at times before we vape?

Respect goes along way, something that some vapors seem to lack,it is still a disgusting habit whether you like it or not,and i am of that habit

When we talk about ikkle babies, it's as well to remember that hospitals routinely have permeated the air in all their wards with PG - it's a known germicide. Similarly - and we have to remember that the OP didn't posit anything at all about babies - nicotine is a naturally occurring substance in veggies, and the kind of levels they provide are likely to be around the same as a second hand vapour might provide, should any of the nic actually escape the buccal cavity (which is, actually, in doubt anyway). So it's entirely possible that a new mum who had a craving for aubergines in tomato sauce is passing nicotine to her newborn via breast milk anyway.

There's kind of a limit as to how "safe" this world needs to be - and I'm beginning to think the phrase "think of the children" shows exactly when an argument is lost - think Godwin's law...

E-cigs are not "quit smoking" devices - they are an alternative way to smoke, but with a much reduced risk profile. Believe this - it's true. E-cig users are NOT quitters.

they do say grilled baby tastes very nice.. just make sure you clean its smelly bottom first before grilling it..

tell your flat mate that you can smell them therefore you must be inhaling them.. ask them to stop because you consider it an invasion of your personal privacy..

or you could just say piss off.. :)
