No option for the poll for 'have lost weight'. Vaping sweet flavours has stopped me wanting to eat so much and have lost a few pounds in the two weeks I have been vaping.

Pixie Juice Menu: Signature juice - Mint Choc Chip Ice Cream. Others: Blackcurrant Ice. Double Mint, Vanilla Ice Cream. Still tweaking more.
Berry Chewits Berry Chewits is no more thanks to the concentrate recipe being changed by the manufacturers who also didn't indicate this on their website. Thanks for that, not!

My favorite pre-mixed juices: Grizwalds Strawberry Ice Cream. Copper Creek Apricot Danish. Kentucky Vanilla Blend. Kentucky No 7

I'm with the general consensus on this one. There is no magic bullet for obesity. I eat when I'm hungry and stop when I'm not. I exclude nothing from my diet, anything in moderation and due to the sporadic and often manic nature of my job, I eat at some odd hours and graze rather than stuff, because that way, I avoid indigestion.
I've never been overweight, despite doing little by way of physical exercise outside work. I started cycling the 11 mile round trip 3 months ago, but to improve fitness, not loose weight.
The only surefire method in all but medical reasons for being overweight is to eat less and do more.
BUT....when I looked up the effects of straight nicotine in a vape, without all the other cig chemicals, I did find research to suggest yes, it increases your metabolism, it can help delay the symptoms of Alzhiemers and can improve the symptoms of Tourettes. Possibly may have some medical uses?

I've piled on at least 20lbs maybe more since I've switched to vaping. I only use 1ml of 24mg a day though.

This could be the tobacco industry trying to push their wares down a different avenue perhaps?

I do recall piling on a full 2 stones in weight in 9 months when I totally stopped smoking quite a few years ago, well before e-cigs invented, which maybe put me off stopping again when for an inexcusable reason I started smoking again, but I did lose some weight! The thing was, my appetite for food, lots of it, went through the roof! I was always starving... simply could not have a big enough meal that would fill me up for long enough! It was horrible, the very worse thing I recall about stopping smoking back then. I personally DO think that vaping and the nicotine helps suppress the worse of those absurd food cravings, but not as much as fags :(

a mate of mine has a theory which makes sense to me. I have put on a couple of pounds since coming off the analogues and I haven't increased my food intake. The theory is that because there is not so much carbon monoxide in the blood stream now and more oxygen the energy from the food is being broken down more and cos I don't need so much it is being stored as fat. When you smoke the carbon monoxide doesn't break the food down so much and so you actually do not digest so much of the energy. Makes sense to me.

@frog, seabiscuit and roadhoguk.

This will give you all a rough idea of how bad (Americanised) we are now in this country..

I went to see my GP (for the first time in years) a couple of months ago looking to get advice for something to help me sleep, preferably herbal or at least non pharmaceutical (can't stand pharma drugs), after she'd stopped looking at me as though i was some kind of freak for not wanting Pharma drugs, she suggested, quite strongly that i should take...antidepressants!

I was gobsmacked, after only having just explained to her that i was looking for recommendations for herbal or non pharma solutions, and told her so.

She immediately said "Well, most people are on these drugs", I said "What do you mean most people are on these?", she said (quite matter of factly) "Oh, about 60% - 70% of the UK population are prescribed these drugs"!!!

I nearly fell of the chair.

6 or 7 out of 10 people in the UK (adults and kids) are regularly being prescribed and taking psychiatric drugs....anyone else see a problem with this?

I told her that i thought it was both disgusting and unbelievable so many people are being encouraged to take mind altering pharmaceuticals on a regular basis, considering one of the biggest reported 'side effects' of these things is *suicidal tendencies*!

She just raised her eyebrows and nonchalantly mumbled "That's how things are these days", to which i replied "That's how things are if GP's prescribe these things like sweets you mean!"

The atmosphere became immediately frosty and i was made very aware that my 'consultation' was over.

Bloody GP's are in bed with big pharma to such a degree, i'm willing to bet there was a Big Pharma salesperson hiding in the cupboard in just his boxers and socks.

Truly disgusting.

you will be amazed to know that a doctor "could" be struck off and lose their licence for referring you to alternative medicine,,

the reason is as follows and quite obvious really..

a doctor goes to medical school, studies medicine and prescribes medicine..

notice that they dont prescribe nutrition or natural remedies....they dont even bother showing up for the very short course on nutrition as they can not practice it...mmm.. food for thought and i bet you will look at your doctor differently now maybe?

my god they are putting nicotine in my cereal !

The best way to deal with weight gain is a good diet and regular exercise.
I don't doubt the veracity of this statement but it's a tad simplistic. That there's an obesity epidemic and multi-million pound diet industry would suggest that people do find it a good diet and/or exercise a bit of a struggle!

I know someone who worked in an addiction clinic and she said food addicts were always the hardest one to treat.

What exactly was it in tobacco that lead to the old adage that if you smoked you lost weight in the first place?

Models would smoke just to keep the pounds off, and smokers trying to quit would notice a weight gain.

Every time I tried to stop I noticed a gain of a few pounds here and there but that was more to do with replacing one hand to mouth habit with another.

Since I started vaping I've kept the same hand to mouth habit so I don't feel the need to eat more.
