Some 150 suicides — more than doubling those previously known — were among 589 delayed reports of severe issues turned up in a new analysis by the non-profit Institute for Safe Medication Practices.

FDA officials said the new reports did not change the agency’s position on the risks and benefits of the controversial drug, which received a black box warning that included suicide — the strongest caution possible — in 2009, according to agency officials who would not speak on the record.

The problem appears to have been caused in part by federal Food and Drug Administration rules that don’t require firms to submit new reports of death or serious harm in the agency’s system for urgent review when such risks are already known

I tried these about 3 years ago, they totally mess with your head.

They should be banned, everyone i know who tried them had serious side effects.

More problems for this one BBC News

A drug used by smokers to help them quit increases the risk of heart attacks and other serious cardiovascular problems, research says.

An international team reviewed studies involving more than 8,000 smokers, and found more of those taking Champix fell ill than those on dummy drugs.

The review, in the Canadian Medical Association Journal, suggests smokers should not use the drug to stop.

The Medicines Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA), which monitors the safety of drugs used in the UK, says it has received 306 reports of adverse drug reactions linked to cardiac problems since the drug was launched in 2006 - with deaths in 17 cases.
