I've just seen this on the news http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-13956561 . Its a new type of scanner they are testing out at Durham airport to determine safe v hazardous liquids and wondered if anyone has seen it yet?

Copy and paste the link into the address bar, that works
I hope this won't cause MORE problems at security....

My wife works at LHR as a security trainer,

I gave her some of my eliquids to run through a scanner, no problems, but as they are a liquid, they have to go into the usual plastic bags (along with make up and other liquids)

They will still do the swab test, which checks for explosive/flamable liquids

There maybe a nosey guard who asks about your ecig and the liquids, but just tell them what they are, afterall, the ecigarette is no diferent from an ipod or laptop, its just another gadget

I would say, take a small bottle, for a top up during the flight and put anything larger (over 5ml) in your hold luggage

I can't wait for the day when a security officer uses a ecig on the concourse :cigarette:
Death is natures way of saying, you failed selection

Hi folks...

A very interesting bit of VT... and maybe its me and my "conspiracy theorist" notions but if the scanner checks against a database of "banned" or "proscribed" chemicals AND if the Gov Big Brother wants to discourage / ban or legislate against Vaping then it seems to me that it would be easy to add some of the chemicals in vaping juices to the database. (say the Nicotine or PG etc...)

...We arrive with our 10ml bottle of Juice and alarm bells activate / lights flash and the Vape Police arrive in force....LOL...!!!

Later...

When I flew out of Dusseldorf recently, one of the security guard took my stuff and called a colleague over (my heart rate soared). He then proceeded to explain to him what an ecig was lol... I'd be a rubbish terrorist...

Just like to add that I recently flew out of Gatwick where I smoked a big mod openly, but partly using stealth vaping technique. No complaints from anyone. Also had a couple of steathy tokes on the plane.

The mod went through the x-ray machine openly in a tray with an Arry tank full of liquid. No questions.

Be bold my friends
Control your vaping. Use both hands.

I agree with DanScrew...You have to be bold if it is going to be accepted!

Although that is easy to say but much harder to do - as I still feel a bit anxious or embarrassed to vape in some places where smoking is banned.

I have done it at work now and at first was told that I couldn't do that and I just ignored them - now they don't bother commenting - so that is a win!
