Yes, long term gamer here. Wow, just thinking over thirty years experience now. :ghost:
Loved it when games got as good as the arcades in your own home, God knows how much I spent in arcades as a kid?

Yeah BFBC2 is about all I play at the moment. May try and get on your server sometime. Soldier name Steven Seagull.
Mostly play on the cranial tap and the nM-OCUK server. :) Good games on both especially the OCUK one after 7:00pm most evenings. :)
On the up and up.

Yeah, I've played on the same server also, it's a name that sticks out.

Mine is, rather unoriginally, A.Spain.

Been playing computer games for years. Got my ZX Spectrum for Christmas when I was 11 (so 1983). I missed the 16 bit era due to being a student, but since then I've had PS, PS2, N64, Dreamcast and I've had an XBox 360 for a while now.

The only one of those I've got left is the 360, but I've got loads of emulators for other systems on my machine here.

Best site for the Spectrum is http://www.worldofspectrum.org/
Vaper since October 2008.

It'll all end in beers.

Used to be a hard core gamer before our kids came along, now i don't play hardly at all.

Started off on a speccy too...the old tape cassette drive (remember those bloody things?) wait 20 minutes for a game to load, then watch it crash at 99% load...oh how i laughed!

Amiga A500 next, then the 1200 with Hard drive (paid £250 for a 20 MEG hard drive back then!!)...loved my Amigas.

Then a 486 DX2/66Mhz...my first 'real' PC, followed about every 6 months by major upgrades working through the early Pentium P60's all the way up to what i have now, an i7.

Used to be mad on 'Cadaver' for the Amiga and 'Bitmap Brothers - Gods'.

Played Half life 1 & 2 for years online, Total Annihilation on BT wireplay for years, and the inevitable Medal of Honour and Call of Duty series. Last games played were about 5 years ago...now it's just the Wii with the kids.

Scary thought that i might actually have grown up a little..might dig the games back out just to be rebellious again!

Yeah Daz, probably a new rig. Currently got dual 580's, they might be fine, it's the cpu that probably needs work. It's an I7 950 but the destructible environment kills it I think.

Bit strange because the first time I "worked" with PC's was when doing a YTS scheme (remember those?!) back in 1985 and the course was to learn BASIC. Which I already knew anyway! It was only cos my ol' man threatened that if I didn't find a job by end of week I'd be out on my earhole. Anyhow, after two weeks on this scheme I got offered work experience as a database administrator. Four IBM PC's networked together and my PC being the master. I hated the job of backing up all the database once a week onto those massive floppy disks. Used to take ages!!!

Anyhow, I had used various business PC's for about seven years in total but it was many years later (2005/6 I think) when I visited my brother in Devon who had a desktop PC connected to Internet. After five minutes I was hooked and I wanted one there and then but I was totally skint especially when I saw how much they were. Luck would have it, a friend of a friend builds basic PC's and he made me one for £50 (can't remember the specs except it had XP as it's OS). He also stuck nearly every MAME game on it as well - I was well away! When I think about it, it was at that time when I started to lose interest in my PS2 (only game I kept playing was GTA San Andreas). I've not looked back and it's only up to about three years ago when I started to get heavy into game emulation. Not just retro home computers/consoles but MAME, FMFE ("real" fruit machine emulator) and Pinball emulation too (Visual & Future pinball). So plenty of games to choose from and play!!

@spikeychops - you're right. I spent waaaaay too much time playing games when I was single. Now, fast-forward several years, wife and five kids, not much time at all. Although I certainly wouldn't change a single thing. I like to keep busy and do look forward to retro gaming moments when have the opportunity. :)

Anyone remember PS1 ToCA (racing)? My friend and I used to have weekly tournaments with bets! Takeaway and beers in. Good 'ol days. Right laugh. :)

My sister just ended a 16 year marriage due in part to the 'ol man always locking himself away in the spare room playing PC games online, and spending no time or taking notice of his little boy, now he's lost his family and his home and his marriage (other reasons to blame too TBH).

Should come with a warning on the box...'extended solitary gaming can seriously damage your family life'.

Indeed, moderation in all things, including moderation.
At least he has more time to game now. :bounce2:
On a serious note though, I try to limit myself to a few games a few times a week now.
Gone are the eight hours up all night sessions on Soldier Front, God I wasted so much of my life on that. :embarrassed:
Plus I am lucky my missus stuck with me during those times.

Started with a BBC micro, then an Atari ST, moved on to the Commodore 64, then naturally the Amiga A500 progressing to the 1200, now my PC.

I'm an avid X Universe adict and can't wait for the new one later this year, the best game ever produced in my opinion.

Wasn't Jetpac infinite? I used to love that game (and the sequel: Lunar Jetman) but all I recall is different rockets to build (changed after so many levels) and aliens. Difficulty level certainly went up a notch the further you got. Don't make 'em like they used to lol.

Hey - found a site where you can play Jetpac online:Click here. Yup. Still hard lol. :)

It was infinite, yep, but I suppose you could say you completed it after building the four rockets.

I've got Jetpac Refuelled on my Xbox 360 and that's great too.

Long time gamer here too.Console and FPS only these days, although i did love the ZXSpectrum games...SYNTAX ERROR ;)

ive pretty much given up on multiplayers now,as i cant tolerate the idiots you have to play with.mind you, this is xbox live im talking about,so its expected.

i have 2 problems because of this-

1-campaign now seems to be a secondary consideration on a lot of games.the trend seems to be-really short campaign, then concentrate on tacking on a (usually crap) multiplayer.there are a few notable exceptions, but campaigns are usually too short these days to be worth buying.its sad.

2-i get motion sickness from an awful lot of games.its terrible.ive tried everything, but it makes no difference.

favourite FPS-Halo CE,Doom,GOW,COD2,Return to castle Wolfenstein,Timesplitters,Rainbow 6 Vegas,Bioshock.
