The problem is that many smokers find ‘e-cigarettes’ unsatisfactory because they don’t deliver sufficient nicotine to satisfy their cravings.

Smug with my P16, CE2 and 24mg... :smug:

The firm is very confident. ‘There is political support for this,’ says BAT spokesman David O’Reilly. ‘In our view, e-cigarettes do not work. People should be able to use nicotine, but in the safest possible way.’

Nowt like an honest, unbiased opinion eh? I think I'll probably stick with my 'ineffective' "e-cigarette" thanks, your lot have had their pound of flesh from me already.

Yes did read this earlier, made me chuckle...

E cigs seem to be working for me okay, haven't bought any fags in ages. Far safer way of getting my nic than their current delivery system

Wonder if big tobacco gave the mail a bung to rubbish e-cigs.

Can't see BT bringing out anything that will wipe out e-cigs myself.

Two years without a cigarette for me seem to fly in the face of e-cigs not being effective ;)

The only worrying thing in the article is the "there is political support for this" - the tobacco lobby is very powerful could cause vapers problems...

"This ‘non-electronic nicotine inhaler’ (there will no doubt be a snappier name when the product comes on to the market)..."

I think 'NENI' is quite a snappy name...

This part again:

Is this guy for real? Has he actually tried the wide range of current eCigs and eLiquids? Maybe he has tried BS eLiquid by mistake.

It's all about the big tobacco companies who fear going under because of increasing number of quitters. They are merely protecting there own revenue by substituting real cigs with the eCig) - which still works in the same sodding way as unlicensed eCigs on the market now. As usual, it's the big boys pushing everyone around by getting their product licensed as an officially approved tobacco substitute. Yup. Money talks. I just hope it doesn't have ill-effect on the current vaping community in long run. Although I'm positive we'll come up winners in the end as the present range of eCig's/eLiquids are harmless.

Just a IMHO. ;)

I'm more than satisfied with my eCig. To the extent that I have absolutely NO desire to smoke ever again! :)

"...Regulatory authorities are also suspicious: the tobacco-replacement products have been subjected to numerous regulations and safety-testing procedures, whereas actual tobacco — a proven killer — can be sold by anyone."

Actual Tobacco! A Proven Killer!

Fantastic!

I buy from anyone who sells good products at the right price, even quit kit vendors.

Can't see BT bringing out anything that will wipe out e-cigs myself.

Except legislation griz.

Fags and baccy are big money for governments, we all know about high tax revenues. Add to that a hypothetical 'subtle incentive' in the form of a massive backhander (or however many bungs it takes) and Voila! Instant government ban on ecigs, or at least nic juice.

If they really wanted rid of ecigs, i think we'd see legal issues start popping up.

I think it would be odd for BT to do this though, since our nic juice is dependant on BT and their monopoly on Tobacco plantations. The nicotine used for juice is extracted from Tobacco anyway, so they are still selling their raw product, except now there's no further processing to turn the plants into fags (if all were used for ecigs).

Getting into the nic juice market and promoting ecigs like there was no tomorrow would make sound business sense for BT wouldn't it?
Grow the tobacco, extract the nicotine and mix ecig juice and flog, process the 'used' tobacco, now almost free of nicotine into a fag brand and could be marketted as a very low nicotine 'healthier' fag..maybe even target the cessation market.
