Right now I am on and off vaping , mostly cigarettes atm.
I inhaled water by mistake again, and my gag reflex has returned.

I'm ambulance staff with lots of experience on drowning and gag reflex.
Vaping has nothing to do with your gag reflex. It can vary from person to person and some people are capable of supressing it (sward-swallowers and the'faking dead' regulars we have who tolerate our largest airways without a flicker of a cough).
If it worries you, see your GP, but most likely one of those human variations that modern society has stopped Darwinism breeding out

people have 3 gag reflex's in there body that how people train themselves to swallow swords. so if they can desensatise 3 then it could be posible that you have desensatised the most comon one which is located in the throat.
