The European Commission has today published its report on the public consultation, which was to decide (amongst other things) whether or not to include electronic cigarettes in a 'tobacco products' classification.

The ECITA blog reports on this here.

Overall, I reckon it's another ray of hope for a common sense approach to our industry, but only time will tell.... :)

With the amounts of loot Big Pharma has tied up in NRT and associated useless crap, it's no wonder they are arguing the way they are..better they cut their loses, and jump on the ecig band wagon.

Thanks for your hard work DB

No problems, Spikey. :)

As for 'we trust the European Commission...', well, we'll just have to see if they can demonstrate that they CAN be trusted, but the augurs are pretty good so far. Their own Report rather ties them in to providing robust scientific evidence, so decisions they make will have to be well supported.

Any egregious errors of judgement will be jumped upon swiftly in any event, so let's hope they use some common sense. ;)

Yes, let's hope so.

Of course, there's robust scientific evidence, and then there's robust scientific evidence that 'fits' if you catch my drift. Hopefully with good folks like you watching them like a hawk, any chicanery will be picked up and exposed.

Thanks again for an interesting article.
