There was a particularly interesting programme on Radio 4 this afternoon; the first of a series of three looking at a growing body of research indicating that, although what you do in your lifetime does play a factor in your fate, what may be more important is what happened to you between conception and the age of two and what happened to your parents and grandparents. For those interested, its here:

Great listening I thought anyway.

not much you can do about it afterwards is there.. there is an old saying that goes "give me the child until the age of seven and i will give you the man"..

or "spare the rod spoil the child" the birth pill has lot to answer for.. he he he

being old i remember the days when kids were viewed as something you lot lumbered with.. now they are treated as a precious gift from god and the world revolves around each new one.. the Chinese have a term.. "little emperors"..

maybe.. would be little "rioters" or pissed off "little emperors" .. he he he

i blame the birth pill.. you have to be quite old to remember the days before it.. :)

Or as the Catholic Church says in Ireland - "give me the child until the age of 14 and they will grow up to be very disturbed...!!!"

LOL (Only joking of course - don't mean to offend!)

Lol, very true, but I was accustomed to the flavour of Mum's brand and stuck with them for a while.
My 14th birthday pressie from friends was a carton of cigs. I kinda hid them in full view (if Mum ever tidied the hall cupboard). There was a lot of should I, shouldn't I tell her when she ran out. Eventually the ranting hysteria was too much and I confessed to having a stash but wouldn't tell her where until she swore no adverse parental sanction would be forthcoming. Talk about having someone over a barrel
