" E-cig Vapour -Is there any nicotine in the vapour I exhale?
September 8th, 2011...

There has been as usual a fair amount of fuss and nonsense about ’second hand vapour’ – as some folk believe it is the same as second hand smoke and ask is it safe? Am I inhaling nicotine? It does appear to be safe, and yes you are inhaling some nicotine – but read on because the amount is so small, you would have to be involved in some type of tantra to get it, plus the vapour disperses far quicker than smoke so you would have to be fast at it."

66% was water, 3% was PG, 1-3-% was VG, 1% was nicotine, leaving 17% unaccounted for...
And the missing 10%...?

...and yes there is a bit of nicotine coming out, but not the amount that turns the ceilings yellow.
I understood this was caused by the tar from cigarette smoke.

Whilst interesting, this study is another one that was commissioned by a vested interest... an E-cig manufacturer. My cynical nature makes me harbour doubts about any study that is commissioned by a vested interest, be it from an e-cig manufacturer, "anti tobacco", "big tobacco" or "big pharma".

It would be nice to see a study done that hasn't been commissioned by a vested interest, but as it seems vested interests are the only ones who are willing to fund studies, it might be a while before a truly independent study is done. (and yes, I would class WHO as a vested interest due to their anti smoking stance).

Maybe I'm just too cynical? <shrug>

66% of the vapour was water? I know you can thin VG with distilled water but I had assumed the vapour was mainly vaporised PG/VG - does this make sense?

I know what you mean.

The water which was found is almost certainly due to condensation, this is what you see as visible vapour and is obtained from the air rather than the juice itself.
