Just doing a bit of thinking as I have been reading through this thread..

2010 was spoiled for me through folding raffle tickets, so I well understand the problem when selling even more tickets...

I was thinking that an online generator for the draws... providing anyone can get online, is one simplified way of generating winners without having to do all that folding... my fingers have never been the same since....hahaha

And I do think advance booking of tickets is now the only way to go, to avoid venues having problems.

So a couple of ideas...

As much as no one wants to charge, advance booking is going to incur costs with postage etc., so that cost needs to be covered in advance, maybe with a £1 charge or something..

Buying a raffle ticket along with the ticket, as someone suggested, isnt going to alleviate the selling of them on the day, as some folk will still either want more, or will have forgotten to purchase in advance. So I dont see how that would work, unless it was a one ticket entry into one special raffle...

Also, as I realise the problem with advance booking, is so many dont know if they make it till the last minute, and those new to vaping, may not even be aware of Vapefest, till the last minute, as they are just too new.

So there are draw backs to whatever way its done..

One thing for sure, organisers will need to know what size venue to pick, long before the due date, and whether that is done via forums and people's responses, or via ticket sales, you are still going to need a crystal ball to guess footfall on the day..

At 2010, we estimated 50, on the day 75 turned up... Wayne, and I discussed this, and a figure of 150 to 200 was estimated, so whether I had been involved or not, the result would have been the same, as neither of us predicted an additional hundred people coming along..

And thats not a bad thing.. oh dear me no... its a fantastic thing, as it showed that Wayne and the entire team promoted Vapefest in such a manner, that news of it reached far and wide..

Everyone I have spoken to, said, they had a fantastic time, and enjoyed meeting people that had previously just been an avatar on a page.

Lets keep the momentum going and get lots of regional meets set up, and work together towards next years event...

Wayne many thanks for a fantastic day!, got in trouble with the misses as I was only going to be there for an hour or so and stayed till the end!, and a costly day too as I bought a GGTS with a UFS now if only I can get the ufs to work without flooding everything i put in it Ill be a happy man.

Also does anyone know who the vendor next to the hooker pipe was as I bought 3 ego kits for friends and didnt get his details incase I need them for warranty purposes

I got one of those too and was struggling to work out even how to put it together properly until Dave K very kindly gave a lesson. I couldn't get an atty to work either, but as Wayne said, there's an extender that should help. I eventually got mine working with a carto... had to punch cart and shut off juice flow so the cart feeds from punched hole but I've tried 40mm boges and 50mm xl dual coils in there and they both work well.

I found THIS discussion on ECF that may have been the idea behind the V2 and I found Scott's review of the original HERE to be very useful.

Hi, all,

First things first: Wayne, you are a god among men. How you pulled that off - with DOUBLE the attendance which was expected - I will never know. I salute you!

What a superb event! It was absolutely thrilling to catch up with so many old friends, and to make so many new ones. I dare not get into special 'shout outs', because there simply isn't room, but you know who you are.

I'm speechless - it was simply fantastic, so a huge thanks to all for making it what it was: another AWESOME Vapefest! :)

Cheers,

Katherine

Thanks again Kath for the pressie! That was very generous what you did.
Needless to say you made me feel like a big kid on xmas day :)

Hi, Scott,

I've had a chat with Pete, and he reckons you should go to DV to do the review, and have a bit of a tour. (I hear they have a good A&E in Swansea, so you never know - you might even survive!) ;)

I suggest you drop him an email to discuss... if you're brave enough :)

I'll pm Wayne with the address to send it back to.

Cheers,

Katherine

Just wanted to say that it was an unbelievable day and all for FREE! In the US an entry ticket is $40 and the vendors pay hundreds - so much that they can't make a profit and just use it as a marketing exercise. Ours was FREE and all the better for it. Mind you it could be so big next year that entry tickets might be needed just to keep a lid on it...

I've organised a bunch of day events and nobody, but nobody, can appreciate how much work goes into it to make it a success unless they've done it. The relief afterwards is so high that neat 60mg + five espressos + tequila chasers does not come close. You can't possibly get every single aspect perfect unless you have plenty of experience and a team who have also done it and money to invest - but who cares. Excellent day, all free, nothing could be an improvement, even going to the NEC - because it would lose that 'club' atmosphere and be just another expo.

Once again thanks Wayne and you have all our gratitude x1000. Hope the Moat House didn't get too wrecked :-)

Just an idea on pre ticket sales idea, we could sell pre tickets via paypal for say £8 pre event up to one week prior. Which would also allow a person to allot raffle tickets to each person on the pc, then £10 on the door and again entered onto a pc at point of entry with raffle numbers asigned . Pc could then be programmed to pick a number say every 15min and flash up a projecter image on a wall, that way it down to people to check the wall/ projection to claim prizes.

Just to add my 2 cents. My wife and I both had a wonderful time. Being quite new to all this (as many people there were) it was great to meet so many friendly an enthusiastic vapers Neozero, harlequin69, and k8 to name but a few. Went home feeling much more enlightened about which mods will be right for me as there is so much variety it can be quite daunting for new vapers. Thanks to everyone who organized it really was fantastic. By the way check out ticketleap.com for a good way to set up preregistration for future events.
